Mage Nerf/class Suggestion

    Maybe another class can be added called battle mage / spellbinder / ... which can only heal themselves at higher mana cost (8 - 10) and the ice snake turned into a higher damage fire / thunder / ... snake.

    And perhaps make the current mage more fragile, maybe by capping the amount of points one can put into strength to prevent the mage from wearing high health / high defence armour and require a certain amount of strength, more than the mage's capped strength, to wear the armour mages are not supposed to wear. I think mages should be wearing robes instead of metal armour anyway. Or make (certain) chestplates class specific, like the weapons are, to be able to tweak the classes more precisely relative to each other by adding / excluding certain chestplates to certain classes.

    I probably did not account for some complexity that will imbalance the classes and / or some implementation obstacles.

    I think they shouldnt replace a spell because it will get too complicated cuz almost everyone has been playingh mage the way it is for a long time, the only thing i support is nerfed heal

    Mage is currently meant to be the support/healing class, but this would balance while still keeping a mage like support/healing class.

    The thing is it's supposed to be the "support class" but way back when they first made it they gave it a single support spell.
    This makes mage with low damage useless.
    So if you have an actual support class and make mage a new attack class, both are still viable.

    Then make another suggestion for a good move I can use.

    The issue with this is, people have already made builds for this on their mages, and that would be so many Le wasted.

    Something viable that I can't debate against.
    People will learn but it will cause issues and salt.

    tbh i dont think they should replace a spell
    even tho the flare seems pretty cool

    Literally the only real change needed to heal would be to spread the heal more over the pulses say: Pulse 1: 20% of the heal, Pulse 2: 30% of the heal, Pulse 3: 50% of the heal. This makes mages have to wait for all the pulses in order to get the most out of their heal unlike now where it basically does all of the heal in 1 pulse with the other 2 pulses basically doing nothing. This would also stop mages spamming heal as they would only be getting 20% of the heal for spamming which is pretty awful. That's my suggestion

    and this, ladies and gents, is how you come up with a good nerf that helps to solve the problem while still allowing the class it's for to be useful in the same sort of way.

    i support this method. this way, us mages can still heal, we just can't spam it to make duels between us last forever. :p
    (anyone who's fought me as a mage knows exactly what i'm talking about...)

    the fact that they are getting only 20% of their full heal compared to now where mages get about 90% of their full heal in the first tick

    I think heal needs a small nerf/rework as well but removing the spell entirely and creating a brand new class entirely just to move the heal spell to would have catastrophic results.

    Back in the day Archers were able to pull back their bow like in vanilla MC, this was changed to the instant-fire of the current Archer in 2014 due to issues, at the time, Archer mains were pissed, but they eventually got used to it.

    But heal on the other hand is something of a much grander scale and has been with Mage since the beginning of the game, removing heal from Mage would not only be the biggest "fuck you" to every player that has ever played Mage (which is a lot), but it would also fuck up the very core class roles of the game we've built off of for a long time. It would cause a big chunk of the playerbase to quit (I think Mage is the most played class) because a large part of Mage's appeal is that it's essentially a chimera of the common roles of Magic-based classes in RPGs, with powerful healing, Magic attacks (meteor), and status effects (ice snake) removing a part of that appeal and making a new class based entirely around that appeal wouldn't work.

    I realize the root spell in your suggestion is another heal, but what makes Wynncraft so great are just how simple they are, changing it to something that places a temporary entity on the ground rather than simply nerfing/tweaking the current heal will also not work.

    As for Defile, Mage already has a status effect spell, Ice Snake.

    And for Flare we already have Meteor as the main offense spell.

    And again, all these spells feel a little complex by Wynncraft's standards.

    Simply tweaking/nerfing the heal spell would be a much more effiecient way of balancing the class.

    I doubt I will be happy about a change. I like mage as it is. I use heal instead of high health or high defense.

    If it is about duels, how about anti-heal gear? If you hit a mage while wearing such gear, heal becomes self-poison (%) for a time for them, if the mage heals during that time, they get poisoned (%) instead.

    I honestly agree. I picked mage because it was a support character... Mages are used for healing.
