    Maybe call it The Province of Marchanti as in marchantiophyta / liverworts. Have some kind of radiance present that will drain life to keep the humans out. When I read the background story I am thinking it all starts out as a hippie dream and one ends up in a war torn Stalinist hell hole where the weak are killed and you're drinking Kool-Aid.

    Maybe the area could have an insane evolutionary rate, every plant life you kill comes back with a vengeance.
