Mage Nerf/class Suggestion

    My idea for fixing mage.
    - Remove heal from mage spells and replace it with another damage spell or an extremely nerfed heal spell.
    - Make a new support class that is strictly that, support.

    Possible spell ideas for mage replacement

    - Root: (Healing) A "Root" that heals people standing in a 2 block radius (0.5% per second for 20 seconds)
    Root would be stationary, forcing you to stand in a 5x5 area to heal 10% of your health. (Stats can be changed).
    (Only one can be cast per mage, casting a new one nullifies the old one).

    - Defile: (Damage) The ground in front of you becomes cursed, and all health and mana regeneration is nullified for mobs/players (Only players if PvP) standing on that ground, as well as for yourself. (Lasts 5 seconds)

    - Flare: (Damage) A bolt of fire randomly chooses a direction and fires, deals fire and weapon damage to everything in contact with the bolt. (High damage but lower chance of hitting, a dexterity type spell).

    (Balancing changes and such can be made).
    (Other ideas always being accepted).

    Now for the new class.
    Cleric.
    Gifted in the art of healing, this soldier doesn't stay on the front lines, but rather supports his allies from behind the scenes.

    Weapon
    Flail

    Spells

    - Heal
    Mage heal

    - Shade
    Summon a shade to fight for you for a time. Deals air damage as well as your weapon damage.

    - Lv. 2 (Substance)
    Increased time, earth damage added.

    - Lv. 3 (Departure)
    Increases damage and/or attack speed of the shade, shade explodes on death dealing an extra 50% damage in a 5x5 area

    - Color (Better name maybe idk)
    Give a temporary random beneficial id to nearby players. (If this cannot be done then change id to effect).

    - Lv. 2 (This upgrade needs a name)
    Increased time, 10% chance to heal 10% of affected players health

    - Lv. 3 (This one needs a name too)
    Increased effectiveness, 10% chance to heal 10% OR a 5% chance to give a lesser secondary id/effect
    1% chance to do both

    - Chaos Mend
    Heals all players in a 5 block radius for 50% of their health at the cost of a random % of your health. (Capped at 75%)

    - Lv. 2
    Damages enemies in the area for 25% of the total health lost.

    - Lv. 3
    Damages enemies in the area for 50% of the total health lost, increased to a 7 block radius.


    (Lots of balancing probably needed),

    so you made a seddgestion to nerf mages heal then make an idea for a class with mages heal...

    Yes but a much lower damage class that's more focused on healing and support.

    Should add Avada Kedavra as a new spell replacement for mage heal then, I think it'll really balance it out :).

    I think mage spell should heal a fixed amount always.. like 15% of ur max health or something.. and the pulses would be 5% of ur health. That would be around 1k heal for a 8k health person. It's not too op, but it can be spammed. I think teleporting should have a small nausea effect if u spam it.. so u don't end up like representative ernold. and then meteor can stay the same - it's like the only source of big damage for le mage.. and ice snake is ok.

    Lol every class can solo the hardest boss in the game with ease when they use the right build, a buff would just make that worse.
    Nerfing, or you have to buff everything.
    And it's easier to nerf one thing.

    so.. you suggest to nerv the support/healing aspect of the mage but you confirm what stardust said..? this doesent make much sense to me tbh.

    "the perfect nerf" nerf =/= removal
    but seriously a nerf to Meteor not Heal would balance mage
    because it's supposed to compensate for high healing with low damage
    but meteor just defies that by being one of the strongest spells in the game

    except someone's still going to be able to have a 20k-ish-damage-per-spell meteor-spammer mage build. as stated earlier in this thread, people will find ways around anything.

    the reason meteor is that powerful is because if there weren't at least something powerful to give mages a reason to help, nobody - and i literally mean nobody - would play as a mage. this, as far as i can interpret, has been the main issue with trying to nerf anything about mage - the healing and high damage make it a viable class, but removing or nerfing either will likely turn a lot of people off from playing the class. however, some sort of change also needs to be made to make the other classes just as, if not more viable in more than just 1 or 2 very specific cases.

    buffing everything, believe it or not, is almost easier than trying to find a fair mage nerf. hell, adding new equipment designed for the other classes (although perhaps not specific to them) would also turn people towards the other classes while still keeping mage a viable class to play as when the rest of your party is made of assassins and warriors and archers(, oh my).

    i'm probably just being stupid, but shit if i know. just throwin' my two cents into the tip jar.

    btw if any of these changes ever happend then mage would become effectivly useless most classes have atleast 2 good moves and plus do you know how many mages (including myself) would be angry about that im quite sure they would be a "Buff Mage RIOT" personaly i would say alot of people would join that lets be honest do we want mage to be the next assassin
