    also, jsut remembered, grian showed the chest for ai stuff, and its full, meaning we need doublechests, which isnt game friendly

    Wouldn't it be possible for you to add a plugin which adds a command which calls an api which determines the day of the week. A command block system could then be set up to create the traveling salesman.
    I don't know, it sounds like it might work?

    How common does the traveling merchant appear? Like every day, week, month?
    And is there always at least one traveling merchant, and the items just switch over time, or is there sometimes a merchant and sometimes not?

    1. well, that's up to the devs (but id suggest like once every 3 days or so..)

    2. if I understand what ur asking ( I might not) the villager will be absent from his stall when not selling anything, maybe there will be a sign saying "Away" or "Out of Town" or "Out procuring radical foreign goods, be back soon" I dunno
