I feel like the friends system is under-rated. I'd like to change that.
So today, I present my idea of a better friend system.

Upon clicking the "Add someone to your friends list" button, the list will close and this will appear in chat:
If you type the name wrong, this will appear:

If you typed the name successfully this will appear:

(Same rules apply for the remove someone button)


I've been suggested to add a toggle feature for the GUI as some people might not like it. (Thanks @Bubbles)
When you type /friends it will give you the option for the GUI, or in chat version. If you'd like to switch at any time, type /friends toggle (WIP)

Invitations
How do we see who has added you, you ask? Simple. They will appear in your friends list, similar to this:

Now, for the question everyone has been waiting for:
What is so good about this system?
For starters, it's much simpler. This way explains what the friends system is, and how it works. It shows all the friends information without having to enter any pesky commands.


Pros:
Easy to use
Lightweight
Can easily see
Easily view what friends are online/offline
Easily view all friends without the clustered chat list
Doesn't spam chat (Sort of)

Cons:
Takes time to impliment

First off, please change all text to 'no color.' Unless you want alot of pissed off people because they think they can't see black colors with the starry night theme, although people can see black but...

This seems a bit like the friend system mineplex has. With the exact same functions and it looks almost identical.
But I believe that they had the right approach on their friend system, so I'm not gonna say that it's a bad thing. Just stating it.

The part where it says:
Online True / False
Server: WC1 / Offline
perhaps change it to WC1 | No
Since if someone is online, you might as well say where they are immediatly.
And Online: False just doesn't sound right. So I personally prefer a No, might be different for some people.


That's simply something that'd appeal more to me, no major thing. But this is such a good suggestion that I'm only really gonna be able to point out some small things I'd like changed.

I've not really found anything else I think I'd want to change... Great job on making this.

Some things I'd add:
Make it so that your online friends are on the first spots of the GUI. That way, it takes less long to find who's all online.
You could accidently type a name wrong and that wrong name could actually be an existing member. Perhaps make it possible to cancel your own friend requests.
(I'd also like a command for typing to all your friends at once. so you can type /f dxp anywhere? I'm sure I'm not the only one with this idea. But it might be cool to include something like it.)

Questions I have:
If you'd remove someone from your friend list, would it in your system automatically remove you from their friend list?
How do you think a transition from this system to yours go? Would we keep all our current friends? Or have to re-invite everybody?

Personally I do not like all the forced GUIs that all servers but Wynncraft have. How about you make this have a toggle? Until than I give it a no as I am totally fine with the chat version as I find it easy enough to navigate through and also I don't fancy needing to open a GUI to message someone.

 

Fair enough. That'd be interesting. All of this, I'm looking into from a coding point of few. So I'll have to investigate that. Thanks for the suggestion!

 

Hey, I really love this idea! I feel like this would be a good idea in order to see who is online! But I have one way to make it better and I will post that in a little bit here, because I'm not on my computer rn.

Never the less, I LOVE this idea! It could work greatly! Mainly because I have gained a LOT of in game friends over the years... so really this would be really nice to have, and so maybe I could delete the friends that are like... never on xP.

 

Yeah, I got another complaint under yours about that, fixed it.

I see. Something like, instead of the current one, have it be:
If online: Online: WC1
If offline: Online: No (Or False)

Crud. Forgot to say, I wanted that to be a feature as it was. It'd be: Current friends, friend requests, and requests to other people.

I had not decided on that. I didn't want to put too many GUIs in, so I wasn't sure whether to add a confirm one.

Not entirely sure. I'm almost positive you would as Friends are most likely stored inside a Database, meaning it can be accessed from any plugin.

Here are the improvements I was talking about earlier!: (Excuse the use of Checkmarks, I couldn't find the X and the + or arrows)


Move the "Online/Offline" part to away from hovering over the head, and move it to be something like this:


And then, have there be an arrow in the bottom right, for "Next Page":



I say add a "Next Page" thing, mainly because of the fact that a lot of people have a LOT of friends on Wynncraft, so it would be better if you could have multiple pages to list them all off.

But, Other than that I really love this idea! It would be really nice to have this for an option!

Only problem with all of this is it'd take time to code. I love the ideas but my suggestions were meant to be bare minimum allowing Wynncraft's only developer have a bit of time to himself.

 

True... but they like suggestions to be fleshed out, and they sometimes even want it to be a bigger thing like I suggested. It is the fact that they would rather have quality suggestions to impliment that take more time, than quantity suggestions that take less time.

 

Adjusted to be more theme friendly.

 

The toggle command should be something along the lines of /toggle friendgui since there is already a toggle command ingame used for music, swears, blood, and other things.
