World Urbanization [90+ Friendos]

Have you ever thought to yourself, "How is Detlas a major trading hub if it has maybe ten houses at most?" Have you ever thought to yourself, "Why is Llevigar the royal city when it barely has enough room for a bank?" Or more importantly, "Where the $&?% do all the farmers in Olux live?" I sure have. That's why we have the miracle of Urbanization!

Overview

This suggestion is aimed at improving the atmosphere of the world of Wynncraft, starting with the villager settlements. The small cities make it easy to travel and hard to get lost, but it simply doesn't feel very complete. This can be remedied through three simple solutions: Sprawl, Suburbs, and Surroundings.

Sprawl

This is an easy solution to expanding the larger cities. Sprawl, or more precisely Urban Sprawl can be defined as an over-expansion of a city, beyond the center. In the case of Wynncraft, cities like Almuj could be expanded to be sprawling off in every direction, until it just dissipates, instead of just ending suddenly at the bank. Surrounding such a city would be perfect, with large buildings, and waterways, similar to what Almuj is today. Sprawl would ideally be the addition of larger buildings, to make the cities feel more grand.

Suburbs

Now, a Suburb is somewhat similar to Sprawl, in that it is the direct expansion of the city, however Suburbs are collections smaller, exclusively residential, buildings. A Suburb in Wynncraft would be a two or three house expansion outside of current city boundaries, in every direction. Detlas would be surrounded by smaller houses and plantations like the Apple Orchard, while Bucie could have a large enough population to justify a town center like it has.

Surroundings

Now, Surroundings are quite different from Sprawl and Suburbs. Surroundings would be smaller buildings with purposes. Like Olux's Golem Factory, and Ragni's Kotoa Ranch. Small additions of things like this would make some cities feel far more understandable. The main criminal here is Elkrun, and it's inexplicable placement, if we are overlooking the nearby dungeon. Now, Eklrun could be given a purpose. Put a lumber mill or two nearby. Establishments that do not directly build upon the hamlet, but do add to it's aesthetic or purpose.

Conclusion

All in all, the ideas put forth in this thread are not aimed at improving gameplay, but they exist to allow us to play in a more realistic environment. In many cases, the three principles outlined above would allow the world to be more immersive, and give the player smaller opportunities to explore. I am not calling for any specific changes, but I feel that this would be a very interesting addition to the Wynncraft world.

Ahmsord could use some more buildings, maybe built into its caverns. I feel like Almuj is large enough, and compared to the rest of the Desert is fine. Troms should also be much larger. Support!

Oh, so that's why Elkrun is near Detlas. It's so the mushrooms can be put on the airships at the break-of-bulk point, where they'll be transferred to multiple regions and assembled at their respective consumer markets.

But now we need to find the exact range and threshold of those shroom retailers. (Yahya Mart)

 

Doesn't Elkurn have more houses than Detlas? I mean, barely any buildings in Detlas are actually houses anyway...

 

Elkurn is honestly like a suburb for Detlas at this point, but it's too far away.

 

It's way closer to Nesaak.

I just realized that Pirate Cove is one of the largest cities in game only beaten by Cinfras and maybe Rodoroc ;_;

 

Love this idea adds more flavor and Makes the game more realistic.

 

Ahmsord has a lot of room for expansion, it can be expanded in all 3 dimensions

Cinfras is a good example of a city it has the airbase and a huge area
