Hello everyone, welcome to my idea about a change to critical hits, and dexterity!

Ive felt that a lightning themed playstyle is lacking compared to the other classes. Every other element has an ID that relates to them, (like how air has movement speed, water has mana regen etc.) Since lightning is largely crit based, This is why I propose a big change to the way critical hits work.

The player will have a base 1% chance to do a critical hit, critical hit damage is also lowered to 1.5x. To balance this, points in dexterity no longer buff your crit chance, they now buff your crit damage. This already puts lightning weapons at an advantage, due to their fast speed. Increasing your crit chance, however, is done through a new ID.

    Critical Hit Chance
This raises the chance to land a critical hit. It does not affect the crit multiplier.

    Critical Hit Damage
This raises the critical hit damage multiplier, it is also affected by points into dexterity.

Here are some examples of existing items using these IDs.

    Precision
    Damage: 160-180
    Attack Speed: Very Slow

    Lvl. Min: 32

    Melee Damage: +3% to +11%
    Exploding: +2% to +7%
    Crit Chance: +8% to +33%

    Thermosphere
    Health: +2150
    Thunder Defence: +150
    Earth Defence: -120

    Lvl. Min: 81
    Dexterity Min: 45

    Health Regen: +5% to +20%
    Reflection: +6% to +25%
    Crit Damage: +3% to +13%
    Dexterity: +2 to +6
    Air Defence: +5 to +20
    Thunder Defence: +9 to +39

That is all! Thanks for reading

I don't think they can change an already existing ID, it'd be too much work

The reason it's "impossible" is it isn't! Making another identification is certainly doable...the issue comes with items failing to update!

Let's say an item has -5% spell damage at one point, and then a player finds that item and identifies it. Then later, we make it -5% melee damage. His copy, until re-identified, will still have the -5% spell damage. All new and re-identified copies will have the -5% melee damage, but it turns out to be a rather huge hassle to do. Salted doesn't like messing around with it too much.

I don't really think that this is a good idea. Dexterity already has a Unique ID in the form of +Tier attack speed, as well as raw melee and spell damage, and forcing people to use Crit chance items with a dexterity build would just... suck... and besides there are two possible ways this could go:
Adding straight up crit chances-OP AF as you can get a 100% crit chance with insane crit multipliers
Adding percents to the existing 1% crit multiplier-UP AF for obvious reasons
Not to mention you usually aren't meant to have ID give what skill points also give (so you can't have Dexterity give crit multipliers and an ID give crit multipliers)

It's a great idea; implementing crit stats like crit% and crit dmg may make a lot of work, but would it be worth it in the end?
    I think so.

Maybe it is a little too OP, but that can be fixed by reducing the damages. And that is a good point about skill points having unique effects. Maybe the crit damage could be removed as an id if that's a problem.

This change effectively makes Strength stronger (lol) than Dexterity. With 100% critical chance, we're only getting 150% damage. With 65% damage boost at 100 strength points, we get 165% damage.

I love the concept, though. I would just keep the crit damage boost at x2. This can make dexterity obviously a better choice than strength, so chance IDs should be set very low.

The devs have said that it would be extremely hard to add a new ID, but I think this is still a brilliant idea. +1. I think this might be slightly abusable though.

Probably should tone down on critical hit numbers. Use decimals rather than whole numbers, because someone's gonna make a 100% crit hit build and its not gonna be pretty.

Seen this before in other games.
    worked out fine.

However, this is spliting thunder element into 2 different aspects of offense, the multiplier and the chance.
No other element does this (I'm pretty sure)

Although this does fit well into the "feel" of the element (gambiling high roll and low roll damage values)
Maybe if other elements were to be split into the same way (doesn't have to be offensive)
