Yes, agreed. We Mages are still inferior in terms of dps (though we are very superior in terms of the amount of bs we can pull). We need stuff for air builds that can negate our bad defenses.

Kill around 150k mobs..

 

7/50000 drop chance, and most are in the Level 90-100 range, so they're extremely rare to get.
