World Quest Difficulty Needs To Reflect Actual Quest Difficulty.

Should quests difficulty be rated on a consensus?

    A lot of quests that are "hard" are often very easy. While at lower levels this is usually not the case, beyond level 60+ most quests are "hard" while they really aren't any harder scale wise versus a "medium" quest on level 30 or an "easy" on level 40. Quests should be rated on a consensus by the community or staff.

    Example:

    Angry Village lvl 27 Easy Quest
    You are required to venture into a area full of hostile mobs that are easily defeated, do a tricky parkour over lava, talk to a dude, buy potatoes from a sorta remote location, and do the parkour again.
    Wynnexcavation Site C lvl 55 Hard Quest
    Go through some tunnels, run away from some slow mobs, do parkour over lava, kill some easy mobs, and punch a crystal.

    As you can see, quest difficulty is not really reflective of actual difficulty. A change that needs to be made, as cubie said below, is assign a variable to quest difficulty that can be manipulated by the GM making the quest, instead of difficulty determined by simply amount of stages a quest has.

    Currently the Quest looks at the amount of stages (times the quest book updates) to determine the quests difficulty. Maybe it would be possible for this to be a variable which can be edited by the Gm creating the quest.

    that's possible, right? IIRC Reincarnation is hard (~3 stages)

    Currently I don't think it is. A coder would have to rewrite a bit of the quest system for it to work most likely.

    If the wiki says it's hard, then it is.
    It's because every time you get a new message in the hall, that's a new stage being started. (It just doesn't say [Quest updated])
    That explains why the game put it as 'hard'

    As far as I'm aware the second update changelog actually said the difficulty was set by the GM now.

    The difficulty is not manually chosen. For whatever reason, the quest system was coded with the difficulty automatically set by the amount of stages in the quest. To be fair, the system was pretty old and was designed without knowing exactly what quests we'd be making in the future so I imagine at the time it was considered to be good enough. But now as we introduce more ideas and new design philosophies, difficult quests that are only like 3-4 stages, so that's probably why quest difficulty is so weird now.
    No this was never stated, it's not a thing.

    That thread just made me realize that the "Easy" difficulty on "???" wasn't chosen by some GM to tease everyone :3
