    Profile Posts

I think it would be a great idea if we had the power to lock our own comments and posts and disable anyone from replying to your comment.

For example, if someone posted on my wall, and would not like anyone to respond to it (for argument reasons), they would have the option to either....

    A. Allow the owner of the profile page to reply to the comment.

    B. Completely lock the comment so no replies are allowed.

    C. Keep the comment public, so anyone has the ability to reply.

Obviously, if the person would not like me to reply on their comment they would choose option B.

Now do not fear, do not worry, do not piss your pants... If the person commenting on your profile completely locks their comment for no further replies, the owner of the profile page will still have an option to delete and utterly obliterate the comment from existence. The reason that the owner of the profile page should have this power are for the following reasons...

    A. The person who commented on your profile page is violating one of the rules on the forums.

    B. The person who commented was not being respectful or nice to the owner.

    C. The owner just likes to keep his profile looking clean and sharp for reputation reasons.

If you were wondering what the symbol would look like if the person locked their comment, it would look something like this: [IMG]

    Deleting Comments On Forum Posts

    F
or forum posts, I noticed that the community tends to, in some cases, single someone out, cyberbully, etc.
I have always been so frustrated that I could not delete anyone's comment if they were trying to harass me or talk down the point of my topic. This is where the delete button could come in handy. I mean sure you can report the comment! But come on! What are the chances of that comment being deleted as soon as you reported?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is all for me today girls. Let me know if someone has already suggested this. If someone already has, let me know if I did a better job ;)

Side note: I may add on to this suggestion because I think that the forums could have more locking privileges in other areas other than profile comments.

    Keep Wynning,

    Melted

I feel like this could easily be misused, regardless of whether or not the original intention is not what I'm implying.
Besides, you have the option to delete comments already.

Also, the Ignore button is always a thing, though as menial as it is.

The whole point of sharing something on a public forum is to give feedback to and/or get feedback from other members of the community. By allowing people to close off any direct feedback, we'd be spitting in the face of the very concept of a forum.

Wasn't this sort of thing suggested before and also got flak for it?

I believe the reason why it won't be added is because it adds an abusable power to thread owners, they can delete messages they claim to be "rude" or "harassment" because it disagrees with the thread. The "Delete" button and "Lock thread" button is already replaced with a "Report" button which you can report your thread or the players messages for having no reason for the thread anymore, and actual harassment or broken rules, respectively.

The community feedback can also be brutal in some cases, which is why this suggestion comes in handy.

Good idea but like @InvertedReaper said there wouldn't be a point to not get feedback if you suggest something.
