Okay, so this is a series of quests I've been working on. IT IS NOT FINISHED YET. I will add the quest when I am done with it, and there will be a total of 5 quests. I'm proud to say that I've finally finished it! The reason I decided to make this was to make a quest series with a dynamic NPC. What I mean by that is an person who grows alongside you in your ventures, an NPC that develops over the line of the quests. An NPC who's bound to be more like a player. In this case, he's your rival. Individually, the quests aren't that big or innovative, but they're made to build upon each other, and to stir emotions within the player. I'll happily take any comments on if I have some stats incorrect, if something should be changed, etc. Thanks ^3^

Talk to Elder Limek in Tree Village at -266 68 -1387

    Pre-Quest Dialogue:
Elder Limek (1/1): I am in need of your assistance, but you cannot help me in your state. Come back when you are level 10.

    Starting Dialogue:
Elder Limek (1/5): Greetings, young traveller. I am Limek, the elder of this forest village.
Elder Limek (2/5): Recently, we have been attacked by aggressive Wood Spirits.
Elder Limek (3/5): I managed to locate their source, but we have no fighters to take care of it.
Elder Limek (4/5): If you would, see if you can rid us of these spirits. I’ll write down the coordinates for you.
Elder Limek (5/5): Also, keep your eyes peeled for another recruit. I sent him earlier, but he hasn’t returned yet.

    Post-Dialogue:
Elder Limek (1/1): Have you stopped the Wood Spirits yet? Do you have a sign of proof?

Enter the Hollow Tree At -191 69 -1423

(If you try to enter before taking the quest, you are teleported backwards and told, "You can hear aggressive spirits inside. It would be wise to stay back for now.")
(After entering the Tree, you are teleported to a tunnel under the tree, where you fight your way through a couple of Wood Spirits.)

Mobs (Since this is a Lv. 10 quest, there is one type of mob, then the mini-boss)

    Wood Spirit
    Lv. 8
    Health: 30
    Damage: 10
    AI: Move straight towards target
    Attack Type: Melee
    Movement Speed: Slow
    Spawn Rate: Low

(At the end of the initial tunnel, there is an oddly shaped door, with pressure plates and buttons.)

Here is an image of the puzzle (In a smaller room):
    2016-08-22_21.58.17.jpg
The sign on the left reads, "The door will open when the door disappears." This means you have to match the logs on the door with the rest of the wall (Vertical). The pressure plates select which log you can rotate (Particles will come off of it, in the pic I used a redstone torch), and the buttons rotate the log. Once all logs are lined vertically, the door will open. Behind it is a small hole where you jump down into a pool of water.
    Upon landing, you hear:

    ??? (1/1): HEEEELLPPPP MEEE!!!

(Another tunnel stretches from where you land, with no mobs. At the end of the tunnel, a room opens up, where you fight the mini-boss. In the room, there is the Corrupted Wood Spirit.)

    Corrupted Wood Spirit
    Lv. 10
    Health: 200
    Damage: 15
    AI: Move straight towards target
    Attack Type: Melee
    Movement Speed: Normal

(Also in the room, to the side, is a cage with a pressure plate in front. Inside is an NPC named ???. Upon entering the room, you hear:)

??? (1/1): I can help you if you free me!

    Free the other recruit

(The idea here is a scenario similar to the tutorial, where you free a soldier that helps you fight. You step on the plate, and you hear:)

??? (1/1): Thanks, now let's defeat that thing together!

    ???
    Lv. 10
    Health: 100
    Damage: 15
    AI: Mercenary
    Attack Type: Melee (Dagger)
    Movement Speed: Normal

    Defeat the Corrupted Wood Spirit

(Since you have an extra fighter, the boss is a tad stronger. Upon the Corrupted Wood Spirit’s death, it drops one [Black Seed] and one [Magic Wood Chip], along with emeralds and such. ??? says:)

??? (1/1): Hey, let’s get out of here!

(On the opposite end of the room from where you entered is a coal teleporter. After you enter it, you appear in a room that’s right below where you entered the tree.
??? is in here as a Quest NPC named Valir.)

    ??? (1/13): Wow, you’re a really good fighter! What’s your name?
Valir (2/13): Great name. My name is Valir. I’m a new Wynn soldier!
Valir (3/13): Wait, you are too? That’s amazing!
Valir (4/13): Anyways, did you get anything from that monster after it died?
    Valir (5/13): A
[Black Seed] and a [Magic Chip of Wood]?
    Valir (6/13):You should take the
[Black Seed] to the Elder. It should stop his worries.
Valir (7/13): Hey, can I see that
[Magic Chip of Wood] for a second?
He pulls out his knife and sets about carving it.
Moments later, he hands you a wooden ring. (+Rival’s Promise)

Valir (8/13): Here you go! It’s a memoir for our adventure!
Valir (9/13): Or really, you saving my butt. Heheh…
Valir (10/13): But I’ll make a promise! Next time we meet, I’ll be stronger!
Valir (11/13): (I will get stronger, for Sis.)
Valir (12/13): Hey, I’ll check for any other Spirits. You should go back to Elder Limek.
Valir (13/13): Until we meet again, rival!

    Post-Dialogue:
Valir (1/1): Knife, check. Armor, check. Potions...huh? Where'd they go?

(After this, you climb a ladder in the room that goes above the entrance on the other side of the tree. You can hop out here to go back to Elder Limek.)

Elder Limek (1/6): You’re back already? And what’s this?
Elder Limek (2/6): A Wood Spirit had this? This must be what made them attack. I will destroy it.
Elder Limek (3/6): Did you find the boy? He seemed fired up about the task.
Elder Limek (4/6): So, you fought off the spirits together. That’s great news.
Elder Limek (5/6): Maybe you two could compete. A little rivalry never hurts.
Elder Limek (6/6): Anyways, thank you for your help. Take these as a token of appreciation.

Talk to the Enchanter in Ternaves at 815 73 1600

    Prequest Dialogue
Enchanter (1/2): Don’t pester me right now, young lad! Don’t even try unless you’re level 30!
Enchanter (2/2): I have no use for kids like THAT one..

    Start Quest Dialogue
Enchanter (1/9): Hey, kid! Yes, you! In that fancy suit of armor!
Enchanter (2/9): I need you to help me out.
Enchanter (3/9): Earlier, I sent some amateur recruit to go fetch some magical gems from an abandoned mineshaft down the road.
Enchanter (4/9): It just so happens that Serist was looking over him…
Enchanter (5/9): I’m DOOMED if she finds out i sent him to such a deadly place.
Enchanter (6/9): My task for you is to go retrieve that boy before she notices.
Enchanter (7/9): I’ll give you the coordinates I gave the other boy. That should give you some clues.
Enchanter (8/9): I’ll even pay you handsomely if you can manage this.
Enchanter (9/9): Now go, before Serist notices anything!

    Post-Dialogue:
Enchanter (1/1): What are you doing?! Go find the boy, now!

    Investigate the cave at 860 21 -1227

There isn’t anything that seems suspicious. You should investigate further.

    You hear a faint rumbling…
Cracks are appearing in the floor!
You must get out before th-
    *CRACKRUMBLESMASH*
(The floor breaks beneath you, and you fall a bit before teleporting to “the bottom of the mines”.)
You should search for a way back up...

    Find a way back up

(You can’t go straight back up. There is a tunnel you must go through that winds upward. Inside are the same mobs from the surface: Corrupted Miners and Moving Minecarts. Partially through the tunnel, you hear:)

    ??? (1/1): IS ANYONE THERE?!

(At the end of the tunnel is a large cavern. In it are two distinct features: Valir, trapped behind a cave-in, and a huge gem deposit on the wall, near the roof. Despite it being high up, you can reach it with a shaft that revolves around the room.)

    (When you enter the room:)

    Valir (1/5): Who’s there?
Valir (2/5): It’s too dark for me too see anything right now…
Valir (3/5): Just activate the TNT in front of this pile of rocks!
Valir (4/5): That TNT's hooked up to those gems on the wall, so that’s two-in-one!
Valir (5/5): Come on! HIT IT ALREADY!!!

    Activate the TNT

(When you do so, an explosion occurs, and Valir is free. But not just him. As the explosions travel up the shaft wall and into the gem deposit, you hear a loud roar. As the gem deposit explodes, a Gem Guardian jumps out from behind it.)

Valir (1/1): What the hell is THAT?
Gem Guardian (1/1): DIE, YOU GREEDY MORTALS

Valir (2/14): I guess… I owe you one. I would’ve been pounded to dust if you weren’t here.
Valir (3/14): But I swear to Sis that I’ll save YOUR butt next time!
    Valir (4/14): Wait…Huh? “Who’s Sis?”
Valir (5/14): Well, she’s my sister, and the reason I came here.
Valir (6/14): She’s trying to change the kingdom where I’m from, but no-one listens to her because she doesn’t have any power there.
Valir (7/14): I told her I’d become the best warrior in Wynn and Gavel, so that she can change our kingdom.
Valir (8/14): I believe in her ideals, but no-one else does.
Valir (9/14): Which is why I MUST get stronger! For Sis!
Valir (10/14): Maybe you’ll share some of your stories?
    Valir (11/14): …..
Valir (12/15): I guess there isn’t much to say. I know the feeling.
Valir (13/15): Anyways, you can go head back up. I’m grabbing as many of these gems as I can!
Valir (14/15): They’ve got to be worth a fortune!
Valir (15/15): ‘Till we meet again!

    Post-Dialogue:

Valir (1/1): These gems are so beautiful...they must be at least 5 EB apiece!

(You can use the hole from the gem deposit to travel back to the surface.)
    Report back to the Enchanter

Enchanter (1/5): Eh, so you’re finally back?
Enchanter (2/5): What do you have there? And where is the other boy?
You fill him in on what happened.
Enchanter (3/5): Interesting. A Guardian protecting the gems…Meh, whatever.
Enchanter (4/5): I guess a deal’s a deal. I’ll do an enchant with this [Infused Gemstone].
Enchanter (5/5): Bring me something of sentimental value to you.

Enchanter (1/7): Good. Now turn around, this gets pretty flashy.
    Enchanter (2/7):
    GrEviTOe LYzaM pUrfAEK!!!
Enchanter (3/7): There. Here’s the ring, fused with the gem.
Enchanter (4/7): The gem enhances magical properties, and is fairly rare in the plains.
Enchanter (5/7): However, there’s plenty of deposits across Wynn, so they’re surprisingly worthless.
Enchanter (6/7): I’ll even add in a couple of emeralds. I’m such a nice guy!
    Enchanter (7/7): Now scram, brat.

    Post-Dialogue:

Enchanter (1/2): Huh, I thought I told you to leave me alone. I guess I forgot.
Enchanter (2/2): LEAVE ME ALONE. Scram.

Valir (1/4): Hey! It’s been a while since we crossed paths.
Valir (2/4): I’ve been practicing my spells up here for days!
Valir (3/4): And now, I get to put them to the test!
Valir (4/4): Let’s have a duel! To decide who’s stronger!

    (Here’s the fun part!)
(You’re teleported to a copy of the camp you were just in, but
Valir is now a hostile mob.)
    Duel with Valir

    Valir
    Lv. 45
    Health: 3000

    If you beat Valir:
(You are teleported to a 2nd copy of the camp, with a Valir Quest NPC.)

    Valir (1/9): Damnit… you beat me…
Valir (2/9): I gotta say, that was a great match.
Valir (3/9): Here, take this stone. I found it while I was setting up camp, and it looks pretty cool. (+White Stone)
Valir (4/9): I’d give you some cash, but I spent all of mine getting better armor.
Valir (5/9): Huh? Is there something you want to say?
You tell him about the avalanches he’s been causing.
    Valir (6/9): Ugh, I didn’t realize I was making avalanches…
Valir (7/9): Tell the Chief that I’m really sorry, and that I won’t make them any more.
Valir (8/9): I’ll scope out another place to practice.
Valir (9/9): But next time we meet, I’ll win for sure!

    Post-Dialogue:
Valir (1/1): Just wait... I'll win for sure next time!

(Behind Valir is a coal teleporter, which brings you back to the Lusuco area.)

    If Valir beats you:
(You’ll die, and be teleported back to Lusuco. Now, you go back into the tunnel, up the mountain, and to the large camp where you first talked to Valir.)

Valir (1/9): Jeez, I didn’t realize I knocked you off the mountain… sorry.
Valir (2/9): But on the bright side, that means I’m the victor!
Valir (3/9): I won’t ask you for a prize or anything. That’d be selfish.
Valir (4/9): The fact that I won is enough for me!
Valir (5/9): Hey, what’s that look on your face? Is there something you want to say?
You tell him about the avalanches he’s been causing.
    Valir (6/9): Ugh, I didn’t realize I was making avalanches…
Valir (7/9): Tell the Chief that I’m really sorry, and that I won’t make them any more.
Valir (8/9): I’ll scope out another place to practice.
Valir (9/9): Until we meet again!

    Post-Dialogue:
Valir (1/2): I've just got to gather my items, then I'll leave.
Valir (2/2): Speaking of which, have you seen any potions lying around?

(The key to this is that there are two different Valir NPCs you talk to: One accessible only after winning, and one you must return to after losing. This duel plays its part later on.)

    Report back to Chief Hendar

Chief Hendar (1/5): Well? Did you find anything?

You tell him about Valir’s practice, and give him his response.
Chief Hendar (2/5): Oh! That means the avalanches have stopped, yes?
Chief Hendar (3/5): That’s fortunate. As for this Valir…
Chief Hendar (4/5): I wasn’t aware of him, so there is no need for grudges.
Chief Hendar (5/5): Thank you. Please, take this token of my appreciation.

Take the [Drawing] to Mr. Hero's house at -456 -5000

There’s no one here… Maybe you should look around.

    Investigate the house

(In a bedroom, there is a Quest NPC named Journal, which is a book you must read.)

Journal (1/4): Yesterday, I received a request from a villager named Nelos.
Journal (2/4): He asked me to investigate a cave north of Cinfras.
Journal (3/4): He says he saw members of a cult constantly entering and exiting this cave.
Journal (4/4): After scouting the cave, I haven't seen anything fishy...

Check out the cave at -378 -5253

(The mobs inside this cave are the ones found in the area north of Cinfras, such as Arcane Skeletons and Lost Drows)
(The caves travels downward. At the end, there is an abandoned mineshaft, old and weary. Once you step inside:)

    (1/1): CRACK

The roof of the cavern falls out… with you underneath.

(You’re teleported to a black room, to imitate being knocked out.)

    ??? (1/3): Hey…………hear me?

    ??? (3/3): ……hold on a bit longer…

Valir (1/9): Hey… are you okay?
Valir (2/9): That kind of cave-in would have killed most people… Lucky you.
Valir (3/9): Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised. You always pull through.
Valir (4/9): Hey, what is that in your pocket? A drawing? Oh, is it from Fynoba?
Valir (5/9): Heh, he’s been calling me “Mr. Hero” since I saved his sister from monsters in the outskirts.
Valir (6/9): I’ve been helping out a lot in Cinfras recently. There’s much more going on than I thought.
Valir (7/9): I’ve even kept a journal in case…I don’t make it back.
Valir (8/9): You never know what’s going to happen in places like this.
Valir (9/9): Moving on… We should find a way out of here.

Find an way out of the mineshaft

(Here, you need to travel through the mineshaft a bit. There are no mobs, just a small/medium maze. The exit is a large room with a set of ornate doors on the other side of the room. The path to it is marked with a railroad in the middle of each intersection, turning in the direction you need to travel.)

    Escape the cave

(A few Cult Worshippers are in the tunnel as you make your way out. At the end of this tunnel is a coal teleporter. It leads you to a medium-sized room, decorated with crimson banners, supplies, etc. An NPC named Cult Deacon Nelos is in the middle of the room.)

Cult Deacon Nelos (1/9): Greetings, young warrior. I am Nelos. It seems that curiosity got the best of you.
Cult Deacon Nelos (2/9): You young ones just can't help fulfilling your sense of exploration.
Cult Deacon Nelos (3/9): We've always appreciated visits...they always help us out.

    Pre-Quest Dialogue:
Tivep (1/2): I need your assistance, but not yet. You will get killed in your current state.
Tivep (2/2): Return once you are level 87.

    Starting Quest Dialogue:
Tivep (1/4): Greetings, Human. I am in need of assistance.
Tivep (2/4): Recently, a powerful creature has taken residence in a nearby cave.
Tivep (3/4): I would like you to kill it and bring me its head.
Tivep (4/4): I will pay you grandly. Here are the coordinates. Now, off you go!

    Post-Dialogue:
Tivep (1/1): Do not return until you have the head.

    Enter the cave at 1040 116 -5566

(If you try to enter this cave beforehand, chat will say: “An foul presence emanates from here. You can feel death awaiting you.”)
(The cave is short, and ends with a coal teleporter. When you're almost in front of the teleporter, you hear:

    (1/1): GRRAAAAAHHHHHH

Now, you must walk inside and defeat the
Corrupted Demon. He is inside a room of netherrack, with an alter in the middle.)

    Kill the Demon

    Corrupted Demon
    Lv. 87
    Health: 150000
    Damage: 400
AI Type: Move straight towards enemy
    Attack Type: Melee (Spear)
    Movement Speed: Normal
Spells: Meteor II (Shoots in 3 different places simultaneously)
Elements: Fire Dmg/Def, Earth Dmg/Def, Water Weak

(Once you kill it, you are immediately teleported to an identical room, except the Demon is gone, and an NPC named Serist stands in the room. In the back of the room, a hole opened up, where the Demon ran away.)

    Talk to Serist

Serist (1/8): Greetings, warrior of Wynn. I am Serist.
Serist (2/8): We don't have too much time. That...thing will regenerate soon.
Serist (3/8): You haven't killed it yet, thankfully. I need your help to save it.
Serist (4/8): Why? Because it isn't a demon. It's a monstrosity created by Cult Worshippers who corrupted a human.
Serist (5/8): The Corruption has grown around the human. I can feel him, still alive.
Serist (6/8): I can perform a purification spell that is strong enough to destroy the Corruption.
Serist (7/8): However, the spell calls for a Stone of Purity, found near Lusuco in Wynn.
Serist (8/8): Please, if you have a
[White Stone], give it to me. I don't want him to die.

Choose to give the White Stone to Serist, or go further into the cave and kill the Demon

If you give Serist the White Stone:

Serist (1/5): Oh my Lord! Thank you! Thank you!
Serist (2/5): I will perform the spell now!

Serist closes her eyes, clutches the stone, and starts to chant.
Serist (3/5): Domine cæli munda hic offensionis,
Serist (4/5): Eligentur, convertere, et effudit in hac vita animae,
Serist (5/5): Perdere daemonium frater intus!

(A cutscene is shown where the Demon is in the center of a netherrack/hell-like room. Enchantment particles start to appear in the air, with a portal sound effect playing. Then, purple end particles and white star particles surround the Demon, and the Ender Dragon death sound plays. The player gets Nausea, which gives the cave a warping look, momentarily. The netherrack slowly disappears from the walls of the cave, and is replaced by mossy/cracked stone brick. When the particles die down, Valir is laying where the Demon stood a moment ago.)
(The cutscene ends, and you are teleported back with Serist. This time, the netherrack is gone, and the walls are stone brick.)

Serist (1/2): It worked! He's alive and well!
Serist (2/2): I must hurry to see him! Come with me!

Follow Serist into the cave where the human lays (QB)

(There's a short drop into a pool of water, and a turn or two before you arrive at the ruins where Valir lays.)

    Talk to Valir (QB)

    Valir (1/13): .........u-urgh...
    Valir (2/13): Uargh... Wh-what happened?
    Serist (3/13): Valir! You're safe!
Valir (4/13): S-Sis! What are you doing here?! It's too dangerous!
    Serist (5/13): Oh, Valir!
Serist embraces Valir. He is confused and afraid, but he quickly cheers up.
Valir (6/13): I'm glad you're here, Sis. Thank you.
Serist (7/13): I couldn't do anything without your friend here. He helped me save you.
Valir (8/13): Oh! Sorry, I didn't see you. I got caught up in the moment.
Valir (9/13): Thank you for everything you've done for me. You've given me precious memories that I'll never forget.
Valir (10/13): Take my lucky guard. It's the least I could do for you.
Valir (11/13): I've decided I'm going to head home with Serist. I can't leave her now.
Serist (12/13): Thank you, warrior, for saving my brother. Take these emeralds as my thanks.
Valir & Serist (13/13): May we meet again, somewhere in the future.

Thanks. I know that most other suggested quests show the range. But, there is already a way to calculate the minimum and maximum IDs. You multiply the average by a number such as 1.3, for the maximum positive ID. When you make a range, it usually doesn't fit this setup. When I show the averages, they can fit perfectly into the setup.
TL;DR= I do it so that max/min IDs can be calculated using the formula we already have.

And yes, for the first part, you save Valir, but don't make assumptions. Friendly reminder that the whole thing isn't even halfway finished, so you never know what could happen.
