Quest - " Love Is Brewing "

Okay before you read this:
I wrote this on my phone. I cannot use my computer for the summer because I am away from home. That means that it will take me 40 years to add colors and make this pretty. I did my best to make it as readable as possible.

Constructive feedback (especially if you think negatively of this) is highly welcome.

Hard(?) Level 47 Quest: Love is Brewing


Stage 1:
Talk to William in Nesaak

William 1: What to write... What to write. This stuff is supposed to be hard, right?
William 2: I am writing a poem for my love, but my mind is far above! I cannot think! Perhaps I should try another approach?
William 3: Can you help me, adventurer? Your heart appears to be pure.
William 4: Bring me [1 Rose] by the hour; it is quite a beautiful flower.


[Quest Started: Love is Brewing]
Stage 2:
Bring William [1 Rose]

William 1: Thank you very much, my comrade. Will you be my messenger? Be flashy, like a parade!
William 2: Please, send it to my dear. For me, it is very cold out here.
William 3: My love lives just across from my house. Getting there would be easy for even a mouse!

Sam 1: Who the heck are ya? Git inside, it's freezin' out there!
Sam 2: Wot's that ye've got in your hands? A flower? That lil' thing's gonna die in two seconds! Why didja bring it out here?!
Sam 3: Oh, it's a gift from ol' Will? Heh. E's a good lad. But tell 'im I'm not 'is type.

William 1: ...Oh dear, this is exactly what I had feared...
William 2: But! While you were gone wandering, I had done some pondering.
William 3: I have an idea for a beautiful poem!
William 4: "Roses are red,
William 5: Violets are blue,

William 7: ..." AGH! I cannot remember it!
William 8: Well... I suppose that since you are here... And you have been sublime...
William 9: Please, could you write my last line?
10: [Type in the sign what you would like to write]
William 11: Excellent! Very well written. Bring this to my dear again; don't get frostbitten.

Sam 1: A poem from William? When will 'e stop? I like the last line, but that's all.

William 1: Oh. I am speechless. I was sure it would work... But here remain, in crippling sadness.
William 2: I have one last request; however, it is the hardest of all.
William 3: But, it will guarantee that my love and I will have a ball.
William 4: Brew me a potion, and it will set our relationship in motion.
William 5: I hope you are able, even though my recipe and ingredients are not labelled...

Stage 7:
Brew something resembling a [Love Potion] and show it to William

Player is teleported "downstairs", into a dark, musty room. The ceiling is rather high.
Instructions: Make a love potion. Throw three different ingredients in the cauldron. The ingredients react in a way so that order matters!

Clear Potion: This potion makes you feel sad. You don't even know what you're doing, do you?

Grey Potion: Not what you'd expect to be a love potion, but who knows? It's very thick, perhaps not even a liquid... Lotion, maybe?

Gives player slowness 4 for 1 minute upon drinking.

Yellow Potion: It's glowing. How?

Gives player glowing effect and night vision for 30 seconds upon drinking.

White Potion: It smells really, REALLY bad.
SWE
Gives player nausea for 2 minutes upon drinking. Screenshake for 3 seconds.

Purple Potion: The liquid is bubbling.
SEW
Gives player Speed 2 and Jump Boost -1 for 20 seconds upon drinking.

Rainbow Potion: It swirls with the colors of the rainbow...
WES
Jump boost 5 for 20 seconds.

Pink Potion: Just holding this bottle makes you want to kiss something.
WSE
Gives player speed 1, haste 4, jump boost 5, and regeneration 5 for 5 seconds upon drinking.

Player shows [Pink Potion] to William:
All potions in the inventory are removed upon showing him.

William 1: Oh boy, am I bubbling with joy!
William 2: Here, take it with you. I feel as if this love was overdue...

Sam 1: Wot's this? "Drink me?" Sure, why not? I'm thirsty as a cow!
Sam 2: ...eeh?
Sam 3: Goodday there, beautiful. Wanna go out sometime?
4: ...That's not a good sign.

William 1: What? My love has fallen for you? That is not what it was supposed to do!
William 2: There is a way to fix this. Brew the opposite of a Love Potion: some Depressing Lotion!

Player is teleported to the same brewing room.

William 1: Work well done. I do feel rather dumb...
William 2: Give my love the lotion, and it will reverse the effects of the potion!

William 1: Thank you for helping me, adventurer. It was me who should have done it, that is for sure.
William 2: But alas, I have realized that this is not legitimate love. Never should it require a shove.
William 3: It just worked so well for that wizard. Those two were basically made for each other.
William 4: Take these with you. Many good things for you are due.

Before you say "eww another quest lacking lore," note that this takes place in Nesaak. Guess what's nearby? That's right, Ohm's Lab! I'm suggesting this as an introduction quest to the famous lovers: Gale and Ohms. I'm not sure if I should expand on that idea too much, though. I want feedback on this and for an update on the pair to come out before I decide what to do for the next one.

 

Would be nice as a Valatine's Day quest. The only issues are the brewing potions and speaking/typing in the chat

Perhaps it could be a valentines day quest, but who knows? It could go either way. If it were a special quest, I'd have to adjust some things though.

I'm not seeing how the brewing potions are a problem. Is it hard to recognize a sequence of items with command blocks? The clock mystery with opening the doors isn't exactly that, but it is pretty close, and it was done. Changes could be made, definitely.

The player is writing, not speaking. I get that it is communication, but the player does some form of communication in basically every other quest.

 

I like the idea of introducing gales and ohms but you should mention it more

And i hate how Sam speaks :p

I suppose I should reference them more... But I have no idea how not to overdo it. :(

I was trying to make Sam seem like a complete opposite of William, explaining why the love is not mutual. I can tone it down a bit, if it's really that annoying. :P Plus if you think Sam's talk is bad, try reading any book in Redwall... the moles, when they talk: There are apostrophes everywhere. More apostrophes than letters, sometimes!

 

for the chat problem, just use a sign like in the guild attack and guild creating thingies but i like the quest, the dialogue especially

A quest! Haven't seen one of these in a while.
I guess I'll just look this over too.
1. You don't necessarily have to do this, and I read what you said about where you wrote this, but add the color whenever possible. It looks a lot nicer.

2. The way Will writes in prose is interesting, but he sounds remarkably similar to Relend in Fantastic Voyage.

3. I could also disagree with the location; Lusuco would be a very strange place to fall in love. The town looks like a besieged place, with the abandoned stalls and fortified wall. This is just what I think about the place, but it seems like an odd place for this quest, even with Ohm's Lab so close.

4. On the mechanics themselves, however, good job! I like the idea of freedom in writing a poem and I can imagine the potion puzzle being a pretty satisfying one. But what's the love potion for?

2. As a lazy level 82... oops. I didn't realize they were that similar. I'm not going to change it, though, for it gives this quest some more flavor. and maybe theyre related

3. ...Love finds a way! But seriously, I agree. I'll change it to take place in Nesaak. I kind of forgot about Nesaak; for some reason, I thought it would be too low-levelled.

4. It is for the Gale/Ohms quest I mentioned. Or something.

 

I've heard about Gale and Ohm a lot, but all I really know about them is that they were in love (or something), and that there's a wand named after one of them (Ohm's Wish). What exactly is the story behind them? Also, I like the quest!

 

You know basically what everyone else knows! The two loved each other for awhile, then Gale died. She left a memento for Ohms and vice versa, and for some reason Gale's grave and her spirit now reside in the Qira Hive.
Gale is also a sanic air archer while Ohms is a thunder mage and golemancer. Not much is known on the golemancer part.
