I don't like bumping this much, but there are too many shitposts >:3

 

So there will be quests with race requirements, right? Why not the same for weapons and armor? For example:
right below the class requirement (Mage/Dark Wizard, Archer/Hunter, etc. ) would be the Race requirement (Orc, Undine, Angel, etc.)
This would only apply to SOME weapons however, because if EVERY weapon had a race requirement, that would make it impossible to switch between builds (Strength build, Defense build) unless you changed races
weapon examples:
Waves raiser becomes Undine only ( level 35 Water/neutral dmg wand)
Spirit Shock and/or Az becomes Kitsune only (level 81 bow and 70 something bow, both deal lightning dmg)
some more weapons could even be created based on this, like
Sacred Orc Blade (Warrior weapon, Orc only, __ strength required, __ level required)
"Thousands of Orcs would duel to be the one to wield this mighty blade. It was rumored that the blade itself was formed directly from the earth."

This is still a rough idea, so feel free to hate/love/suggest changes!
IDK about armour, but I hope this idea helps :D

Just saying, when Gavel came out, it was discouraged to change your build everytime you wanted a new item.

 

Why is this thread so slow? Its the ONE good thread about races, has over 90 supporters but almost no one says anything.

What are the main problems with this idea?
How can they be fixed?
What else could we add?

maybe by focusing on these questions we can come up with a way to improve the idea in general...?

 

To be honest, having different races, especially these, breaks Wynncraft.

Wynncraft is centered around the Lore first and within the Lore the players come from Fruma.
Everything in the quests are about us discovering Wynn and Gavel.

Fruma would not have Orcs or Elves as those are native to Gavel and they're a minority compared to the Villagers.
Elves have no greed therefore no curiosity to search beyond their lands. Their only curiosity would be to gain knowledge and with the Villagers so spread out in Gavel and Wynn (and possibly Fruma), they do not wish to be affected by their greed so they stay within their lands. Orcs aren't really civilized enough like Elves or Villagers to travel so far.

Angels are a stretch in the Lore (and kind of overpowered Lore-wise) as they are not mentioned at all IIRC, Dragonborne make no sense unless you come from Thanos/Dogovi/Rodoroc and the Staff decide to add Lore about people conquering the power of dragons.
Kitsune are in the same area as Angels, plus Wynn is mostly European inspired, not Eastern.
Undine are similar in problems as Kitsune.

 

The dialog could be changed to where it's like . "Hello (race)! Great to have you fighting for us. But then again the lore would be messed up. You could edit to "Your intrests in *water* have transformed you into a *Undine*, one who intensly studies water magic. (* means its inter-changable.)

Edit: Some of the race names would have to be changed. *Dragonborne, Angel, and orc." Instead you could have "Tank, Swifts, and Brutes*

Some of the buffs to each race could be tweaked by looking from another person's mind like "I would pick this class because it is op with all these extra skill points, i can be extra strong. Instead they should be like "Do i want to be tanky, hit hard, have lots of mana, do a lot of dps, or have a all around build"

The idea is cool, but I was looking at some of the stats from the different races and
1. They need to be more equal
2. You don't have as much freedom to create a custom guild

Just a few name change suggestions:
Angel -> sylph. A sylph is a wind spirit.
Orc -> Hobbit. Already got some hobbits in gavel, why not add a few more? FRODO FTW
Dragonborne -> Salamander. Similar to a sylph, a salamander is a fire spirit.
