Website & Forums Separate Forum For Builds/metagame [21 Supporters!]

MY IDEA

Yeah people have made 'hubs' for all sorts of builds and build guides, but I was thinking we might need a separate section for it. It could be a place not just for builds alone but also for showing off damage outputs, guides for 'build building', or for asking advice. It could be a subforum of the existing 'Your Work', or 'Wynncraft' forums or a separate forum altogether, but its just something to organize all the builds.

WHY?

* So there would be less crowding in the main forum.
I know there is a 'search' function, but build threads just get lost in the sea of other madness in the main forum (at least from what I've experienced).

* Builds have gotten a lot more complicated and are bound to get more complicated in the future with future updates.
The amount content in the Gavel Update was a lot. And I feel a separate section for builds wasn't really needed before it, because there would be so little variation in items. Now there are Mythics, Elements, more IDs. Not only that, but we are promised to get a powder revamp in a future follow-up update. We need something to contain all the madness that comes with builds.

* This is the core mechanic of the game. Why wouldn't they have made a dedicated area for it?
Before the Gavel update, the Metagame seemed mostly non-existent (or at least it was simple enough that a separate forum wasn't needed). But now they have revamped the game so much that the community now has a metagame to discuss about. Why wouldn't they have a forum for discussion on what essentially is the game itself?

ADDITIONAL IDEAS

A lot of people have generally a lot to say in their builds (or maybe because of the a e s t h e t i c). They explain on how to use it, what gear, where to find, and a few stats. This may lengthen the post. Maybe a longer character limit would help prevent people not having to use a second post in their thread.

AN EXAMPLE
(This is actually kinda important, so please, read it)

I have a made a thread, insert shameless plug here, which is on why you should and should not grind at the Tower of Ascension. And me personally, I would label this as metagame since it is talking about game mechanics and strategies. So this guide would fall under this forum.

However, if we consider this as a Metagame thread, then many posts in the Wynncraft forum would go in the Metagame forum since it would be all about game mechanics, strategies, builds, where to find things, etc. And I think this is really important since this would completely change the Wynncraft forum because now there are two options this suggestion could be done. Either

A) The new forum would be exclusively for Build threads. Keeping only Builds and anything to do with the class, weapons, items, and gear themselves.

B) Or the new forum would be a Metagame forum. This would make everything on Builds, mechanics, areas, grinding, exp, classes, weapons and any questions/guides on the matter be moved to this forum. And I am really leaning toward this way of executing the suggestion. This would (like mentioned above) would free up the crowding in the Wynncraft forum. The Wynncraft forum would be about easter eggs, events, fun things you would like to share, and anything like that while the Metagame forum would be about strategies and mechanics.

This was just a simple idea I thought of on the spot, so please, rage on me all you want if you think this is stupid.

 

It's s tiny weirdly specific thing for a tiny and weirdly specific part of the community that would get so self absorbed it would turn away those it seeks to help.

10/10 would totally post there.

Also, lots of forum members don't actually play.

 

I feel if lots of forum members don't actually play, then having a separate forum would still be a benefit for them. Because then those members don't need to see threads full of stats.

Yes it's a tiny and specific part of the community. But it's a community that focuses itself around the main mechanics of the game. Why would the devs create such a complex system without a dedicated place for discussion on it?

 

I don't see a section for discussing how and when to use spells, which I believe is infinitely more complex than elements. Heavy emphasis on believe.

 

Hmm.. Well I feel things like that would also fall into a metagame category. I don't get it, what's your point?

 

Too be fair, there aren't that many threads about builds, and most of the things you mentioned are generally labeled under the guide tag. I don't think we need an entire section for one thing, no matter how big it might seem. But I understand your point.

 

Just a little bump here, would like to know other people's opinions :)

 

I like this idea because then they could have a LARGER CHARACTER LIMIT in just that section, so people can fit theirs builds into one post instead of being like

"Epic thread about build"
"reserved post"
"reserved post"
"first comment about build"
etc etc etc

 

Hmm, yeah I like this idea! If you don't mind, may I just acknowledge it in the main thread (with credits of course)?

This is an interesting idea. There would be a lot of basic tags on the forums as well (each element, weapons, etc.). I agree that builds will become increasingly complicated (and more important) in the afuture with more updates (IM DYING FOR POWDERS). Anyway, maybe there could be a format where you could put your gear in a more organized way instead of:

Helmet:
sgfkgj

Chestplate:
fhajkdhfksaj

Leggings:
asjfhskjh

Boots:
afshfhks

Weapon(s):
fhaskdfha

Accossories:
hfshafa, ahdfkjsh, ffkas


You get the idea. It takes up a lot of room just to say what the build is in an organized way. There could also be an explanation section for the ideas behind the build and why it works.
