Sleeping looks to me like nothing but a fancy immersifier, but it's good regardless. I particularly like the concept of hiring NPCs - I've been hoping for an expansion on the Mercenaries you can find in Almuj. Perhaps these taverns could replace the various inns found around the various cities?

Furthermore, it'd probably be better to have these hirelings all marked as "Mercenaries". Perhaps the nametag could look like something along the lines of "Mercenary|Barbarian Lv. 43?
    Regardless, you have my support.

I actually want their name to be more kinda purple like this, and want to name them hireling something like this "Hireling|[class] level XX"

I like the colour scheme, but "Mercenary" work better?

I prefer your colour scheme - I just want them to be called mercenaries, in keeping with the ones at Almuj. Besides, hirelings sounds awkward...

I think to make it a social area it should provide a unique service. I suggest a porch or balcony around the tavern that is set up so that anyone on the balcony is safe from harm. This way players who are AFK can park themselves in a communal area where they are visible to other players, to facilitate meeting up and trades.
The actual inside of the tavern could potentially have quests, mobs, and activities, while providing a safe area for AFK, which as a kind of rest/sleep fits the theme.
As a tavern, perhaps a version of dueling open to multiple players called a "brawl" could take place with the option to not take part. I know there is the Nether, but sometimes you want to PVP without leaving the server, cough, double XP, cough.

I can agree with you about the the balcony, but I don't think the AFK parking staition was a good idea, Maybe being AFK at the small rooms... I disagree with the brawl, I think brawl won't fit in the taverns.

I honestly would love to see taverns actually be added to wynn, it would give more stuff for players (both high and low levels) to do things other than grind or quests, while yes this idea doesn't add much.. it feels perfect with how wynncraft is. +1 Air-headed Supporter

Could taverns be places to get mini-quests? (like Open 5 Loot Chests in 6 minutes for X Exp)
    ________________________________
Also, there needs to be a Potion of Drunkness merchant.
    ________________________________
    What about Archer?
By the way, if you're going to include Cleric, you might as well include the rest of the D&D character classes not already included...
Such as monk, ranger, sorcerer, warlock, etc...
    ________________________________
For ideas concerning your kind of event...
-Barfight! (Potions of Drunkness start flying around the tavern and start hitting the NPCs. All the NPCs in the tavern become hostile to everyone and start to fight).

First the bar is the Potion of Drunkness merchant...
I like you Idea about the Barfight but I'm thinking the NPC's should throw the poitions one at each other and with an cool intro like "One drunk man throw his bottle on the barman's head, The barman, fighting fire with fire, shouting: Bar-Fight" and then the event starting...
I like your idea about the mini quest...
and I'm ain't gonna add Archer because the Archer seem pretty useless as an NPC...

Archers could be good if they stayed back...
To win this event, be king of the barfight!
(knock out all other NPCs and players in the bar)
I'm not quite sure, but another small thing could be random merchants spawning in the bar that despawn after a while, like unique item merchants, unique potion merchants, ...

Also, the "tank" section isn't fantasylike. Replace it with "divine" or something like that.

Maybe taverns are your checkpoints, instead of your checkpoint being reset whenever you walk into a city, and you can talk to someone to set your checkpoint here.

    Another Event Idea: Robbery!
3 bandits per player in the tavern spawn and run out the door with a bunch of Potions of Drunkenness. You must go hunt them all down and bring hte potions back to win.
