EDIT: redx (admin) has stated that the "click here if you're not a bot" is in fact a working CAPTCHA, and that CAPTCHA's do not work very well, so now we need to come up with a new solution, post suggestions below and I will update the thread and credit you.

You must verify an MC account at log-in. Credit to @Ackro and @EJCrusher.

I suggest Wynncraft add a CAPTCHA to the forum sign up, or at least some other security measure, because this is ridiculous:

I know there was at least one other wave of three after that, and that there was one staff member online during the duration of this spam.

Perhaps they should make like a tutorial when you sign up which introduces you to the different things on the forums, and some of the rules and functions that exist, where to post questions, and where to categorize your threads. And perhaps add a section where people have to create a short mock-up thread to learn the functions or something before they can post on the forums.

Should make spamming more difficult since you would have to do the (Un-skippable) tutorial each time... also would make sure new people would know where to post their threads...

We do have a email confirmation system but it's not efficient (for a lot of reasons)

Nah all we need is a simple english test. What english speaker works in dodgy asian spam sites? if they speak good engrish dey go murrka get gud jerb (atleast while theres no wall) er gu get engrish teachur jerb. But nah, simple questions like Type the name of the website out, How many words are in this sentence? or how do you spell antidisestablishmentarianism. They would be like "wot" Also generally a question like whats the square root of 1 to the power of 9001 divided by pi. Asians will know the answer where as we will be like idk so you just ban anyone who gets it right. But nah, Simple language questions only fluent english people would understand would be good.

What if you would have to connect to your Minecraft account at sign-up? That way, you force the person to own a MC account, before coming here.
And I mean, bots wouldn't go throw 19.95 euro just to spam, right?

 

Except /forum is broken so nobody would be able to join the forums...

I think captcha is probably a better, easier option. Heck, make people confirm their emails before they're allowed to do anything.

 

Unfortunately this causes some slight issues as reported in Github. Apparently the timing of certain things are off causing syncing to fail unless you change certain things. We should make sure that there are no issues with syncing your Minecraft account with your forums account before implementing this sort of system.

Wow, this thread kinda started as a slight joke, but the amount of support on here is crazy.

 

Obviously, current issues must be dealth with before implementing anything like this.
Also, why I do not approve of only adding a mandatory e-mail verification, is because bots these days usually have access to e-mail verificationing.

 

What about those images of text which are used in most bot tests?
