World Decrease Texture Pack Loading Times. (8 Supporters!)

You may be thinking, why shiny, why would anyone need to suggest decrease loading time, if it were possible they would already do it. And sure, for the most part, yes. But when it comes to the texture pack, there is an easy way that would speed up per server loading times without changing anything (Except like one script that is a deterrent for this method). As we know, when we join wynncraft you are prompted to download the server resource pack, this goes in .minecraft/server-resource-packs/legacy. Every time you join a server, the game is forced to re-load the texture pack adding 2-5 seconds of loading time. This can be annoying when you log off in less then ideal places, also its just plain unnecessary. Now, if you were to add a .zip to the previously mentioned legacy file and place it into your resource pack folder then turn off the server resource pack, for example, you would not have any of this extra loading time. you would join a server then BAM you can do what you want INSTANTLY. Life is so much easier. There is only one draw back, the reason why i am making this suggestion... You chat literally gets spammed non stop every 5 seconds telling you to turn on the wynncraft pack DESPITE ALREADY USING IT.

Now, this has been happened to be suggested like 20 different times, however to my knowledge not for this exact, singular purpose. I personally agree with the majority of people in the fact people should ONLY be using the wynncraft pack. But at what cost? I think if someones that desperate to see their weapons as slabs, so what? whos going to be effected then one guy who likes their slabs-wands-dagger-bow-spear-thing?

 

I think it's impossible to change the loading time, as that's how Minecraft works, but they can disable the message in your chat if you turn it off and use your own version of the pack.

I hate going into a guild war and having the pack load, so the mobs kill me while it's loading.

Oh yeah, do /toggle autojoin.
That will fix your "log off in a less than ideal place" issue.

 

As i mentioned, you can just copy the "legacy" file from .minecraft/server-resource-packs/ and place it in .minecraft/resourcepacks while adding a .zip at the end and absolutely nothing changes, except you get FASTER load times also you get prematurely buried with a bunch of U NO USE MY PICTURES! RAGE! messages.

I think your best option would be to take the resource pack, and disable server resource packs, and deal with the constant spam.

In my experience, using the WynnPack when it's downloaded with enabled server resource packs is slower, because the server decides to take off the pack and put it back on.

 

Hence the suggestion. i just use minecrafts default texture pack now and sometimes i'll use them shaders. depending on what i feel like. as for the /toggle autojoin, well. my mage is strong enough to take a 3 second beating from a mob, but i was mainly talking about the load times in general as its kinda annoying having to wait a little.

For guild wars though, yeah i can see that being a massive issue, more reason for this suggestion to be implemented.

If you mean the /autojoin, sure, it helps but the root cause of the issue is completely unnecessary. It should be obvious something is wrong when you are killing things with a wooden slab and like 1-3 messages when starting the game should be enough to tell you how to fix it. Even if it was increased to 10minutes per message it would be fine. But really. Why should we have to be constantly spammed for putting the wynnpack into a faster loading folder? Why are the devs so worried about this one guy being all "HURR DURR I LIKE SLAAAABS!!!" to the point where its unplayable without higher load times?

 

I mean that the load time isn't really that long anyways.

 

If we were to put it as a resource pack, some people might just be too lazy to add it in the game and play without it. tl;dr btw

 

as i said this is an optional thing so basically you can download it like you usually do it download and add it manually and NOT GET SPAMMED.

 

Have you tried it? I am pretty sure it says that u don't have it unless it actually downloads but it won't cos u stopped it from downloading

 

you download it fully, copy and rename it, then disable server side texture packs using edit, to make your game load faster.
