SPOILER Who Are The Ancients? What Is The Eye? (somewhat A Theory)

Time has come for me to post another theory. (Let's post a thread when the forums are currently spammed with theories, yay!)
@oij92 posted a thread about a hidden basement in the Ancient city. In this basement there were several cells with signs in them. (Link to thread: https://forums.wynncraft.com/thread...nexcavation-site-d.112303/page-6#post-1227887)

I'm amused that no one has actually found this/bothered to make a thread about it, because it's such a great find! And yeah, someone did make a theory before 9/7 but those are old days! Let's refresh the page! (Just wanted to warn you guys, this theory doesn't really answer anything, it just brings up very weird stuff, okay?)

Before I start this so-called-theory, I want you guys to read all the signs. (I believe these are all the signs in the basement.)

The magic we harnessed to escape... I do not think it was wise to tamper with it. It has driven many of us insane..

What a read, huh? Creeps me out every time I read them.
Okay, let's start!

Who are the Ancients?
My first guess, "They lived in Wynn before the humans, duh.", but now I'm pretty sure the Ancients once lived in Dern, and then fled from Dern to the jungle where they built a city (Beneath the surface.) Or are we really sure Dern is the dark lands? It coul... nevermind. Let's just assume Dern is the dark lands. The Ancients took use of a very strong magic who turned most of them insane. Like in the room where it says "I'm not crazy" over and over again. (To whoever who wrote "I'm not crazy" on all these signs, poor you.)

The Ancients used the magic to escape from the eye in Dern. It looks like the Ancients were some kind of slaves to something, too. "He commands us to bring it back to him." who is this fella? Amadel? And what is this thing they have to bring back? What is this it? Maybe the crystals? Did the Ancients use the four crystals to escape from the eye? One of the signs did say "We must seal away the power. Hide it across the globe. It should never be used. We should have never used it. If only we had more time."

Wait hold on. It should never be used? What happened when they used this power? They turned insane, I guess. Anyhow, they wanted to seal the power and hide it. What was it that they used? The four crystals? If so, they did a terrible job hiding them.

Some Ancients went insane, some stayed the same, and some got corrupted. On one sign, it says "I curse them! They forced me. They created me. They fear me..." was this an Ancient who wrote it? Who did he curse? Who forced him? Why do they fear him? Was this an insane Ancient who blamed everything on his friends?

"I can't let them find out. They can't face the reality. This secret must go to the grave far from here. If they found out, they would end everything. They can't.." Who wants to face the reality? ... okay, if someone found out... what exactly? Found out the way of getting the power, so they could end everything? Sounds like WynnExcavation to me.

These signs are very varied in the language. Some gives information, some is just very weird, and some is about the eye.

I can't see my eyes th.. ..? Hmm. This sign was inside a cell with Ancient Geists. In the second cell, connected to this cell, there were lots of skulls and blood.

That reminds me, for no particular reason, about this sign:
"They took//
my child//"
And to the right of this sign, it said:
"I am consumption"
As there were only one Ancient in this cell, I know it was this Ancient who wrote it. This Ancient is very saddened over the lost of his/her child. But then it takes a turn and writes "I am consumption"? What happened? Did it turn insane? No, because it had a green nametag. Or did it turn insane, but not the sort of grade where it gets hostile? Okay, let us move on.

Who/What is the eye?

I would say the eye is some sort of monster with a great brain. Before I saw this, I thought the eye was something completely else. I did NOT think the eye was a creature. Do not question why, because I have no idea! Anyway, now I'm sure it's a monster. If you look around the eye, there are red blocks, so I would pretty much guess this eye is made to remember the Ancients of the monster in Dark Lands? Perhaps, this was the monster that caused all the darkness in Dern and the monster that killed Bob? (No, I do not think Bob got killed by CoW. Makes no sense to me.)

This eye is hidden between two cells by the way. It's not supposed to be found by the Ancients, or I don't know. Cx

This, this is very interesting. The eye is more than a symbol, it's a creature! From what I think, this creature is as strongest in the shadows. The eye, or the monster, is very powerful, and is always watching you. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) The eye is extremely strong and can make a whole race flee from the dark land. (Or did everyone flee from Dern? We'll see in a few years yayayaya) What is this beast? Is it controlling all of Dern?
There is not much I can say here, I am not the greatest theorist here on the forums~

It's not darkness... It's ****.
Okay, okay okay okay. This is the most interesting sign of them all. What is not darkness? Is Dern not darkness? What else could they mean? And if it's not darkness, what is it then? It's a 4 letter word, and someone came up with the idea, that it could be... time. It fits so well. And time is capitalized in that one sign we saw before.

They figured out the power from Dern was not darkness, but it was something else.. time? Dern was affected by time? This makes no sense to my mind. MAYBE, the Ancients first thought they went insane because of darkness, but really, no. They went insane because of time. As we saw in the level 17 quest, Lord of the Clock, he went insane by the clock. ("Come on Rujala, that can't add anything to the lore, that quest was just a huge freaking reference to Lord of the Rings!!") Oh I just confused myself.

This was kind of interesting, I didn't really make something I would call a theory, but what do you guys say? Anything to add? Did your brain explode like mine did?

bob's letters to nilrem , he told him to fake a body and that no one must ever know of his goal
we know he went to fight something , probably the eye BUT how did he find out about it?
why did he think no one must know of this just like the ancient
wait.... wasnt bob's skin grey of some sort? mybe his family knew the ancients or mybe they were ancients? mybe he found out about them and the one who wrote the signs told him everything?

I'm sure you've had a lot of time to create this.

Edit: It seems that I could make a nice Ancient, considering their madness and time fetish.

 

It's time... or any other four letter "force" word. (anything that can alter something e.g darkness)

Why it's not darkness... it's time:

1) Fits in with sentence
2) Time is a reoccurring theme in Wynncraft (Door of Time, hourglasses, Clock Mystery, etc.) however it hasn't been fully explored (left unexplored for the Dern Expansion?)
3) Time can be a negative force (e.g. aging)
4) The Ancients are in the middle of this mess. They are called "Ancients" so they've been alive for a long time or perhaps they've USED Time to time-travel to the present day?

They might have used the Door of Time? However, the signs were there before the door opened in the Expansion, so it's opened/been used again?

Who might have used it other than the Ancients? The Eye?

I was thinking the same at first, but quickly realized that Dern and Darkness is like the same thing .-.

They're not immortal, so either, they can be veryyyyy old, or they time travelled. And that caused a lot of damage?

 

I still think that this is the darkest easter egg in the game. Its obvious that wherever the eye is located is a land of hopelessness, and strong magic. (The Crystals?) The more I read this I believe that the eye is actually a group (they) that has some sort of all-powerful leader (he). The question is, why does the eye seem to be against the ancients (or vise-versa)? There are probably a lot of missing parts to this puzzle. Maybe Gavel will soon hold more answers?

 

Looking at the signs, one catches my eye "The secret must go to the grave far from here". Could be theyll die with this secret, or they physically took a secret to a grave thats far away. Bob? Gale? The Dwarf Kings? Who knows.

 

Oh. I did not notice that. Now THAT is a lead...

 

Or they just send away an old Ancient far away...?

probably not bob's , we allready discovered pretty much everything about it and its not even that far from the dernel jungle . infact its pretty close
i am gonna guess its gales tomb but it could be something else
