World Almuj's Mercenaries

When you go around in the world with your new, super duper awesome mercenary and fight epic mobs, you can still hit him and even kill him. So yeah, we should fix this. Also, I just think these mercenaries are awesome, but this just makes them useless.

 

How exactly do they work? I don't really understand that part...

 

You drop emeralds into a hopper to make the door open, freeing your mercenary.

 

Then you have to hope it follows you around, sometimes it just stands around.

 

Dont forget when it disappears for no reason at all!

 

Probably because you left the range of its spawn area, it's like how if you try to take an Orc to Cinfras, the Orc would likely despawn.

 

He despawned a couple blocks outta his spawn for my assassin ;-;

Don't bother. They're super weak, and have terrible AI. (One that I bought just ran away, started attacking some harmless kittens, and then jumped in a lake...)

 

Some times they just begin to attack the small kitty's in almuj's the I have to kill them

I think mercenaries should have a similar spawning system to horses and that you should simply pay for how long you want to have it until it is removed from your inventory. So you would get a weapon representing what type of mercenary you're using and right click the ground to spawn the mercenary. For despawning you would only be able to despawn it by right clicking with the weapon again if there are no aggressive mobs nearby (similar to the radius of scrolls). If your mercenary dies in combat there will be a cooldown before you can respawn it again that gets progressively longer if it dies repeatedly (60 seconds ->120 seconds -> 180 seconds etc.); however, you can spend 1 SP to revive it by right clicking on the ground twice:
1st right click: Your Warrior Mercenary still has 100 seconds left before you can respawn. (Right Click again to spend 1 SP to revive it)
2nd right click: Your Warrior Mercenary has been revived! (You have lost 1 SP)

I'll turn this into a full suggestion if you guys think this is a good system to use.

The AI for defensive mobs is kinda bad in general. To troll at Detlas I lead a swarm of zombies and skeletons from Saints Row into Detlas and managed to avoid the guards bye getting them stuck in walls.

 

It can be summed up in one meme.
I don't always use Almuj' mercenaries, but when I do, I don't.
