We finally got this for the next update!!! Thanks everyone who supported it, and big thanks to the owners who listened to us ♥

The next step is to get the quest tracker too :D

This thread is now the most supported suggestion, and the most liked thread in the whole forums! :D
Thank you so much guys for all your amazing support <3

Please help me to keep those titles? ;)

    Yo guys!

Today I want to present to you my new suggestion to Wynncraft - better quest book mechanics!
    Let’s start right away.

Problems With The Current Quest Book
Since the quest update, the quest book was never updated or improved, while all of the other features were. The current quest book has lot of weaknesses:
    • Random quest order, and it’s not sorted very well.
    • Too many quests for 1 book. It's taking so long to find a quest in the book... An actual book is fine for 20 quests, but not for more than 100!
    • You have to flip many pages each time.
    • The GUI is messy, small, old-fashioned, and annoying.
My suggestion should fix all of those problems, and add some more cool useful features!

    New Quest Book GUI
First of all, right clicking with the quest book will now open a double-chest GUI, instead of the normal minecraft book. (If it’s not possible to do with plugins, they can just use different item for the quest book and retexture it in the resource pack to look like a book)

The new GUI will look like this:

The cool separator at the lower part is a retextured item.
The items above the separator represent quests, But let’s talk about the items below it first.
There are 2 type of items below the separator - Arrows, and an Ender Pearl. They will be there in all of the quest book pages.

The arrows are used to flip through pages of the quest book, and they look like this:
(That’s the right one, and the left one is called “Previous Page”)
    • The “Next Page” arrow won’t appear on the last page, and the “Previous Page” one won’t appear on the first page.
The Ender Pearl will replace the first page of the current quest book, and it’ll include information about your quests progress:
Now, let’s move to talk about the upper and main part of the new quest book.

Each item will represent a quest, and they are sorted by the minimum level.

    New Quest Info Format
    [IMG]
Name - The name of the quest.
Province - The province of the starter NPC.
Lv. Min - The minimum level required to start the quest.
Difficulty - Unlike the current system, the difficulty WON’T be selected automatically and the GMs will be able to set a difficulty to their quests.
Length - Will be selected automatically by the amount of stages in the quest (just like the current difficulty in the quest book):
    1 - 4 stages: Short
    5 - 9 stages: Medium
    10 - 14 stages: Long
    15+ stages: Very long
Status - one of the 4 following options: unavailable / available / completed / started
As you can see, each item in the quest book have one of 4 icons, telling what’s the quest’s status.
    • unavailable - Red cross, meaning the quest’s lv. min is too high for your level.
    • available - A normal book, meaning you can start the quest but didn’t do it yet.
    • completed - Enchanted Book, meaning you finished that quest.
    • started - Book and quill, meaning you started the quest but haven’t finished it.
The quest book will now show you the stages progress, in the same color scheme used for the length part.
As mentioned in the last line of lore, you can (left or right) click a quest to track it.

    Quest Tracker
This part of the suggestion is inspired by Guyde‘s old quest tracker suggestion (no link, since it was posted before the wipe).

With the new quest book, you will be able track quests.
Tracking a quest will do 2 things:
    1. You can Left-Click with your quest book to get information about the quest you are tracking, in chat.
That way you won’t have to search for the quest in the quest book over and over again.
If you aren’t tracking any quest, Left-Clicking the quest book will write the following message:
    2. Your compass will point to the next NPC (or to the mid of the next quest region) in the quest you are tracking. You can also Left-Click your compass to get information about the coords the compass is tracking, in chat.
If you aren’t tracking any quest, your compass will just point to the mid of Ragni, and if you Left-Click with the compass it will write the following message:
To teach new players about those features, the lore of the compass and the quest book will be different:
    [IMG] (*coords)

How do you track a quest?

When a NPC or a region is updating your stage in a quest, you will automatically start tracking that quest. Another option, is to click on the quest in your quest book. It’s also mentioned on the separator in the quest book:
    • The quest you are tracking will look like the enchanted version of the item in your quest book.
    • You can only track “available” and “started” quests.
    • Certain quests (such as Pirate’s Trove and “???”) will have stages where you cannot track the destination, so that the answers to puzzles are not given away (The GMs will be able to add an “untrackable” tag to region and NPCs). In that case the compass will inform the player that the quest stage is untrackable, when Left-Clicking the compass.
    • When you finish the quest you are tracking, you will stop tracking it.
    • You can click on your tracked quest on the quest book, to untrack:

When you Right-Click with your quest book:
    1. If you are tracking a quest, it'll open the quest book at the page of that quest.
    2. If you aren't tracking any quest, it'll open the quest book at the page with the quests for your level.

You won't need to flip through all the pages each time! :D

    TL;DR & Summary
    Benefits of the suggestion:

    • Less pages, and lot of quests at the same page.
    • The quests are sorted by level and it’s easier to navigate in it.
    • The quest book will show the province of the first NPC , and the real difficulty.
    • You will be able to see the number of stages, and your progress on the quest.
    • The new GUI is looking better and cooler.
    • You don’t have to look for the quest in the quest book lot of times.
    • It’ll be easier to find the NPCs and regions, even for those who are bad with coords.
    Weaknesses of the suggestion:
    • It might take some time to implement.
    • The quest book won’t be a real book anymore.

    Edits
    Edit 1:
    Added this part:
    Edit 2:
    Redesigned the thread!
    • Added a logo
    • Added more subtitles
    • Added more spoilers, to make the thread more compact.
I also changed the icon of the completed quest to enchanted book, and changed the glass panes separator to a new cool customized item! I changed all the pictures in the thread to match this change as well.

I like it a ton, but one thing: I wouldn't put the stage count, because it gives away how much of the quest is left...

Ah and remember that you can make book text clickable since 1.8 ;D

Good idea! I have always considered the current quest book to be deprecated and hard to use!

But one question, followed by a suggestion. How is the book orderd? By level, or what? And maybe there should be added an option in which you can choose the order (By Level, By Difficulty, By Completed, Available, etc., And have option to 'flip', i.e., highest to lowest level, lowest to highest level, etc.

Ye, I thought about that too. I just wanted to keep is as simple as I can, and not making it over-complicated.
    Nice idea tho!
I just choose to do it like this:

I would sort it like in the actual quest book, but the unstarted quest should be sorted by level. In your system you have to change sites evertime you wanna view a high level quest.

Now THIS is something I'd really like to see. We haven't really focused on the quest book's mechanics for a long time, and I really like what you came up with. Also, I believe that finished quests should be represented by an enchanty-glowy book instead of a bright green checkmark. It just doesn't fit with the rest of the book icons, but that's just my opinion.

    Yep! I totally agree.
I actually planned to do it that way, but I coudln't get rid of the enchantment line...
But I know it's possible to do with plugins, so ye I support this.
(Also, @Energyxxer actully succeeded to do it with commamd blocks)
