Hey There! My name is Smartin3, and here are my ideas for a better skill point system! (If you have not read the title already).

So, I thought that the new Skill Point system that came with the Gavel Update did not really change WynnCraft, and I think it needs some more stuff with it to make it better, so here are my ideas:

    ________________________________________________________________________
Lets start with explaining the Skill Point system for you new people :D

(You can just skip this if you are not a noob)

If you click your compass, you will see the different skills represented by a book, which are as follows:

    STRENGTH:

The skill point that increases your damage dealt to other monsters and people.

Ex: If you have 20 Points put in STRENGTH you will deal 18.2% more damage

It also increases the EARTH damage you inflict

    DEXTERITY:

The skill point that increases your chances of dealing a critical hit (2 times the damage!) when you attack other people.

It also increases the THUNDER damage you inflict.

    INTELLIGENCE:

The skill point that reduces your mana usage when you cast your spells.

Ex: If you have 22 points in INTELLIGENCE, you use 19.8% less mana when you cast your spell (Like Bash or Heal)

It also increases the WATER damage you inflict.

    DEFENSE:

The skill point that reduces the damage you take by mobs and other people.

It also increases the FIRE damage you inflict.

And last but not least: AGILITY:

The skill point that increases your chances of dodging attacks from ennemies, reducing ALL damage to ZERO.

It also increases the AIR damage you inflict.
    ________________________________________________________________________

So enough with that, and lets move on my ideas to improve the boring things above.

    1. The Possibility To Focus More On Your Favorite Skill.

Lets say you are a Warrior, that wants to deal the most damage as possible, and casting a lot of spells. You obviously max out STRENGTH and INTELLIGENCE to being able to spam spells and do a lot of damage, and you dump all the other skills (Dexterity, Defense and Agility).

The problem is, you want to also take less damage, but you do not have any skill points left…

So my idea is to being to have negative skill points, like -1o agility, -20 dexterity. So you can remove skill points by right-clicking the book, and adding one by left-clicking the book.

But you are going to say:

    1. Smartin, you can't stack -10 books, can you?

Well, with the new ressource pack, you can make a red book and a green book, each symbolizing Positive skill points and Negative skill points.

Ex: A green 27 book on Dexterity is 27 points in Dexterity.

A red 15 book on Agility is -15 points in Agility.

    2. Ok fine, but look at Agility, it does not matter if you have -20 or 0 points in Agility, because they both are no chances of dodging.

Ok then, my other idea is if you -20 in agility, you have 20% chance of being dealt double damage. To avoid confusion, here are the consequences of every skill if you put -20 in it.

Strength: You deal 20% less damage.
Dexterity: You have a 20% chance of doing half the damage.
Intelligence: You use 20% more mana while casting a spell.
Defense: You take 20% more damage.
Agility: You have 20% more chances of being dealt double damage.

    3. So what are the benefits of taking negative points anyway?

Which brings me back to my first intention, the possibility to focus more on your favorite skill. So when you take -20 in agility, you can have 20 extra skill points, handy if you want to have 20 more points in your defense.

    4. If it does happen, this can make the possibility to remove skill points and not needing to buying skill reset scrolls.

This will be a big problem unless we either:

    1. Remove skill reset scrolls.

Me? I hate skill reset scrolls, it is a waste of Liquified Emeralds but makes people choose more carefully what they really want. So I do not think this is the right way to go, and makes the Tower of Amnesia quest useless, so here is a better idea!

    2. When you reach level 10-20, it gives you the possibility to reset your skill points and taking negative points, because I regret my nooby errors. And you decide to take negative points or not, and you can't change it, you can add negative points, but not remove.

This is complicated, so let me clarify:

At some level (Less than 30 or so), you can reset your skill points. Before this level, you cannot take negative points.

At that level you can choose to have a skill that will be in the negatives, it can be -0, or you can add negative points to make it -1, -2, -3, etc. up to level -50 (I dont see why anyone would do more than -50).
You cannot change it back to positive unless you use a skill reset scroll, or use an item that gives you extra skill.

So you have to be sure of your decision when you decide to have negative points or not, and opening more possibilities to different styles of playing. Like dealing less damage, but having more dodging chances and a lot of mana reduction.

That wraps up this idea, and if you have any questions, be sure to reply.

    2. Making Skills More Than Extra Damage, Extra Mana and Less Damage Taken.

Now there are 3 basic possibilities with the skills, Extra Damage, More Mana and Less Damage.

My idea is to have 2 possibilities for every skill, making each and one of them different.

Here are the possibilities with STR (Strength), DEX (Dexterity), INT (Intelligence), DEF (Defense and AGI (Agility).

    STRENGTH (STR):

    1. Extra Damage
    2. Extra Mana Usage

    DEXTERITY (DEX) :

    1. Extra Chance Of Double Damage
    2. Extra Jump Boost
    INTELLIGENCE (INT):

    1. Less Mana Usage
    2. Extra Energy So Sprinting Uses Less Mana
    DEFENSE (DEF):

    1. Less Damage Taken
    2. Less Walk Speed
    AGILTY (AGI):

    1. Extra Chance of Dodging all Damage
    2. Extra Speed

This idea makes better class possiblities, like being a archer scout that moves faster and jumps over its ennemies and barely uses his horse or being a slow warrior that destroys its ennemies in one shot but barely uses its spells and goes very slow and relies on his horse to go faster.

So here were just some ideas to improve the skill point system and makes WynnCraft a game with more different styles of playing with the 8 classes WynnCraft has.

Anyways thanks for reading this whole big fat post and hopefully this can get into the game!

This seems completely unnecessary, and its not even that different from the current skill point system... its all still just adding numbers.

This wont work if this is done then the ENTIRE system would have to be changed and reset scrolls would be useless

If you read #4, you can read point 2. Which explains as follows:

You cannot remove skill points if you already chose the skill to be postive.

Ex: If you put 10 in STRENGTH you cannot put it back to 9 and have an extra skill point.

You cannot add skill points if you put a negative value in the skill.

Ex: If you put -10 in DEXTERITY you cannot use a skill point and put it back to -9,

So I also explained at level 20, you reset your skill points and you can choose to have a negative value in a skill (Or more) or not. You cannot change that afterwards. Unless you buy a skill reset scroll.

    Hope this clarifies things up!

    1. When referring to skills, you can't get worse than zero skill. Zero's the baseline. The point where the only place you can go is up. Also, it doesn't help that not all skills are "equal" depending on the class. For Mages and Warriors, you don't really need Dexterity (except on the rare occasion you actually use Thunder damage), so you can "un-max" that and max out Intelligence/Strength AGAIN. Take a second to imagine just how OP that would be. While on the other hand, Archers and Assassins can viably use all elements rather effectively. Therefore, it becomes a much more delicate balancing game against a Mage who can spam spells willy-nilly and a Warrior who can hit like a freight train who studied under Jackie Chan.

    2. Those are not really balanced well. Why is it that Def is the only skill that has a DRAWBACK too putting more points into it? Also, using Mana while running is a universal problem across all classes. So why make people invest into Water just to get rid of it?

I, personally think this is a bit to complicated. It's a good-ish idea, but would need to be revised a ton.
