Lore/Story Yahya's Tapes

You might know this show called Gravity Falls. In there, there is a character who is a deranged scientist, and I thought, "Hey, Yahya was once a scientist who is now obsessive over mushrooms!" So, there's kinda the backstory part 1 behind that.

I also thought of a Easter Egg I now scrapped which involved the removal of the Talking Mushroom in your inventory to reside in Yahya's Lab for the rest of the game. Due to that, I decided it shouldn't be officially made.

However, with that said, here is the story of how Yahya went insane:

???: Testing, testing, is this thing on?
???: It seems to be. *ahem* if my diagnosis of a disease somewhat in the Gylia Plains progresses to the point of unrecognizable, I have recorded these logs in the hopes they will help me remember.
???: If my diagnosis goes to the point of not even recognizing myself, I will say hello to you, Yahya Yanomehs.
Yahya: After heavy exposure to foreign meteors, I fear I might have been infected with a rare disease in the Gylian Plains, commonly referred to as, Gylian Sickness.
Yahya: It heavily affects the mind due to large exposure to cosmic magic, hell, if the theories are even true, I might even become a Gert, although it is nothing more than an unproven conspiracy.
Yahya: My brothers and I were sent to record findings on this log to see if the Cosmic Magic on it can be powerful enough to amplify the powers of the chosen people. Maybe it could even cause reverse degrading of the mind.
Yahya: As far as I know, the exposure to it has not made me feel any less mentally capable, recording closed.

Yahya: I have begun to feel a bit stranger, yet it has not turned me into an unrecognizable person yet, disproving the conspiracies of Gerts being Villagers.
Yahya: To describe how strange I feel, I have been having more headaches, although I do have an allergy to pollen, which could be that.
Yahya: My brothers, however, have not begun to feel ill yet. I do not know exactly what the effects of Cosmic magic could be. Let alone, perhaps the higher-ups at Gavel Excavation know exactly what the effects are.
Yahya: To close this recording, maybe I should start to take more allergy medications.

Yahya: Recently, my brothers and I have found somewhat of a correlation between mushrooms in the Light Forest and the meteors of Gylia. As such, I have begun to cultivate a small patch of the enigmatic fungi.
Yahya: As per the headaches, well, they haven't worsened at all. Might the allergy medications. However,I should still limit my exposure to them.
Yahya: However, it seems it might not be an option to continue my work at Gavel Excavation while not researching the meteors.
Yahya: Perhaps, it seems that... Well, at the same time, it might not. Recording closed.

Yahya: Th- this is bad. Really bad. The corporate higher-ups at Gavel Excavation have permanently relieved me of my duties. How will I be able to earn a stable income now?
Yahya: Apparently, they found crystals in that new province across the Ocean called Wynn. Maybe I- I could move there to perhaps maybe get my job back?
Yahya: However, I also feel th- that my case of Gylian Sickness is starting to worsen. I should probably head to a place in Wynn to maybe keep my sanity. R- recording closed.

Yahya: A- after getting a j- job w- working for a d- delivery company, I fell off a c- carav- caravan of m- mushrooms! I have begun to stutter more lately.
Yahya: All that is l- left of my notes i- is completely incompre... hensible? I remember f- falling on a r- road of mu- mushrooms. M- maybe I sh- should have n- never...

Yahya: I- I swore I s- saw a giant m- mu- mush- mushroom in the lake n- near my house! I- I think it w- was Purple and Bl- blue.
Yahya: I- I tried t- to catch it b- but it v- vanished! Th- this kid n- named Mehme told me th- that I should not w- worry about... mushrooms a- and I t- told him to g- go away!
Yahya: H- he then s- said we were br- brothers, b- but, I can't imagine b- being brothers with him!
Yahya: I- I need more mu- mushrooms!

Yahya: N- no one's taking m- my mushrooms! N- nobody! Mushrooms are l- love! I n- need them! I- I want to be- become one with them! I- I- kinda want m- mush- mushroom stew right n- now.

So, there it is. I tried to make this as lore-accurate as possible, and I kind of like to think that Yahya made his own tape recorder, since he was a pretty smart dude before the meteors made him obsess over mushrooms. Also, there is a little secret at the end, so try to decipher that, and yes, I was referencing Old Man McGucket from Gravity Falls.
