Hello people! Just a reminder to check out WynnTheory on YouTube!

We have new videos coming out every week! Very soon we will even be having guest speakers on the show, and I thought this would be a good place to say that we are 100% open to anyone who wants to speak. To register interest, talk to me on our lore discord (link in my signature and via PMs), and explain what you want to talk about. Everyone who wants to talk in an episode will get a chance to, but you might have to wait as long as a couple of months.

    The only requirements are:

    1) Have a working microphone (doesn't have to be great quality as long as we can make you out)
    2) Be fluent in English

Note that you only have to send in 1 take (more is good of course, but no pressure), but if we feel it should be worked on we will ask for up to 3 more takes. This is unlikely if you make a good first impression.

Some tips for a good take:

    1) Set the right tone. What I mean by this is that is important to be both friendly and sensible. Set a nice tone, maybe tell a relevant joke if it's a good one, just be nice. Even sarcastic humour can be funny if handled correctly. However, remember that you are talking on a video that is not made to be comedic. It is meant to be informative. Basically, be positive and witty, but not to the point of silliness.

    2) Find what works for you. If you write scripts and follow them word for word, do so. If you make bullet point notes and go through them, do that. If you just think winging it is best with no script, go ahead. The worst case scenario is that I suggest you do something a little differently.

    3) Be concise. What this means is that whatever you are talking about, make sure you cover it without rambling on. This will help people who don't have long attention spans (a lot of people), enjoy the video more.

    4) Be precise. What this means is that you should always aim to make statements, not open-air rhetorical questions. So for example, a precise statement is something like "The portal opened in the year 0 AP". An imprecise statement would be "We don't know how the portal works but it was found, or maybe just revealed itself, in the same year as the fall of Ancient Nemract.

    5) Nail your opening. For obvious reason, your opening line is one of the most important. It draws your audience in and hooks them. I would recommend that in your opening line, you do one of two things. The most common and arguably best thing to do would be to introduce yourself. "Hello, this is MagmaMelon, and today I'll be covering the lore of the Doguns." If you want to be a bit different, you could instead try to be direct - for example "The lore of the Doguns is very complex. Today I thought I'd explain it, and also talk about one of my theories on it." In short, either cover you, what, or both.
