Prison Story

The next day.

Ragni | Prison Exterior | Cloudy | 7:43 PM​

Cedric♂: (Groans) I’ve still got nothing. When’s this guy gonna come out of hiding?
Ooni♂: Oh! I am so glad to see you!
Cedric♂: Huh?
Ooni♂: My name is Ooni, and I've been detained in this cell for over 20 years now! A kind adventurer named Waront was about to give me the key to escape, but he got scared away by some guards! He is probably hiding in the sewers. If you could get the key back to me, it would be wonderful!
Cedric♂: Oh, yeah? (Screams) Why should I care about some criminal who has probably done heinous things!
Ooni♂: I-It’s your job, isn’t it!
Cedric♂: Doesn’t matter! I’m not helping a criminal. (Walks away)

The morning after that.​

Ragni | Russ’ House | Dining Room | Sunny | 8:02 AM​

Cedric♂: Can you believe that? He can’t be trusted.
Russ♂: Actually, it might be a good thing if you did that request.
Cedric♂: Why?
Russ♂: I’m only saying this on experience. There has been misleading requests that I’ve received before, similar to the one you have now. There has been no negative outcome for me or for those that I’ve helped so far.
Cedric♂: So, I should help him?
Russ♂: (Sips coffee) I’m not telling you to; it’s your choice. I’m just saying my own experience. Anyway, any findings?
Cedric♂: No, not since I’ve asked the king.
Russ♂: I see. Make sure to keep an eye out for the cultists while you’re at it.
Cedric♂: Yeah, yeah, I know. (Leaves)
Russ♂: (Realizes) Wait a sec. Wasn’t that mining operation recorded?

Ragni | King’s Castle | Records Room | Sunny | 8:32 AM

Russ♂: Looking up a case this old probably won’t help, but it’s worth a shot. (Opens book)

Hours pass on the clock until it’s near sunset.​

Russ♂: (Groans) This doesn’t make much sense. The leader of the mining group requests permission to use the Abandoned Mines, south of Ternaves from the king of Ragni. The king passes the judgement onto those who own the territory, the Guild of Moria. It was granted access in exchange for a fraction of the precious minerals found. The Guild of Moria suddenly disappears one week after the excavation began. The mining grounds were blocked off to everyone except the crew. The couple and a handful of others were accused of hoarding valuable crystals. They were all murdered by a crew member who was later arrested. The same member was accused for the disappearance of the Moria Guild as well. This makes no sense. Her parents were here in Ragni two years ago and were killed here. As an investigator, I should have figured this out by now.
Jaquelyn♀: (Enters room) Is everything alright in here?
Russ♂: (Scratches head) Yes, just stumped on something. I’m trying to research this group that popped up two years ago. It just seems like the records were changed to throw people off.
Jaquelyn♀: Really? What if it’s to erase their tracks, so that people don’t get hurt?
Russ♂: Say, when did you become the king’s assistant?
Jaquelyn♀: About two years ago.

Ragni | Northern Streets | Sunny | 5:46 PM​

Cedric♂: (Sighs) Still, nothing. I guess I’ll go help that guy out. This better be worth it.

Ragni | Sewers | Hidden Room | Sunny | 5:58 PM​

The hidden room is located behind a wall.​

Waront, a human male is listening closely through the wall to hear the noises of guards.​

Waront♂: (Thoughts) Grr. It’s been a day. When are they going to leave already?

A skirmish happens on the other side of the wall.​

Sull♂: Take out any more guards in sight. If you see any of the cultists, kill them.
Waront♂: (Thoughts) What on earth is going on out there?

Another entrance into the sewers.​

Cedric♂: Urgh. This place reeks. The floor is wet too. (Shakes foot)

Ragni | Eastern Gate | Right Archer Bridge | Sunset | 6:00 PM

Trina and another female Archer are on watch duty.​

Trina♀: Do you see that?

A line of figures can be seen on the horizon.

A flash of light comes from the center of the line.

The left bridge blows up.

A second flash comes from the center.​

Trina♀: Get down! (Shoves the woman away)

The place where they were standing blows up.​

Trina♀: The alar-

The alarm was destroyed in the explosion.​

Soldier♀: I’ll go warn the citizens. (Jumps down)
Trina♀: I’ll handle things here. (Draws bow)

Ragni | King’s Castle | Records Room | Sunset | 6:00 PM​

The explosions could be heard from the castle.​

Russ♂: What the hell? Warn the king! I’ll be right back! (Runs off)

Jaquelyn glances at the research.​

Ragni | Sewers | Sunset | 6:01 PM​

A tremor from the explosions could be felt underground.​

Cedric♂: A tremor?

Screams are heard from down the sewers.​

Cedric♂: (Draws spear) What the hell is going on?

Sull walks up to Cedric.​

Sull♂: What’s a kid doing here?
Cedric♂: You! You’re the one I’ve been looking for!
