Hello and welcome to the biggest one person wynncraft project noone asked for.

Sometime last year, I decided to start looking into understanding game design. Specifically the game theory side of things. What are the uses of random elements? Why use this? What makes a person want to continue playing? Why does monopoly sell well despite it having no redeeming qualities?

I specifically honed in on board and card games and quickly found myself analysing one of the most mechanically complex card games out there, magic the gathering. I specifically looked into this one because it has had both an incredible amount of consisten adhearing to the rules it set for itself and new things every 3 months or so.

This led to me wanting to try creating a 'set' (magic cards are released in sets) for myself, to see if I'd be able to fit mechanically complex things in the few lines given on a piece of cardboard. I did not, however, feel enticed to create a whole story. So I took the only fictional story with translateable mechanics I know enough about to translate it into magic the gathering; Wynncraft.

I never intended on finishing this set as I often get bored halfway into a big project. As did I with this, once it was 2/3 done, I started working on another boardgame.

Than sometimes later I made it into a version that's smaller than originally intended and fleshed it out a bit more. Filled in the gaps I was missing and left it alone again.

But today the Hero Beta dropped for 1.20 and I'm not planning on ever updating this for the new updates so if I ever want this to be relevant to the people, I should drop it yesterday.
But the best time to do what you should've done yesterday is today, so today I am here to present to you what should be a fun look through if you're well acquainted with wynn or MTG. You don't have to understand exactly what each card does to see the jokes I put in. And for most I think you'd be able to guess.

    I present to you
A magic the gathering interpretation of the story of wynncraft. Look through these cards and see a surprising amount of the eye of the storm questline but a suprising lack of Bob. Don't worry, it should be a funny thing to take a quick look at even if you don't know or understand Magic the Gathering.

Each card represents something else in wynncraft, here are some examples:
A 'reference' to the shifty merchant in Thanos. Which, in itself, is a reference to the old scam merchant in VIP town.
Those of you who played through An Iron Heart Part II know all about this one.
There are reprints here too, very few. Don't worry, this goblins grabbing birds to fly around isn't a thing that happens. (Yet) But from the Flavor text (the part in italics), you can see that this tries to give an explaination of the respawn mechanic.
"There is no war inside the Fruman Walls"

With a new set, new mechanics are introduced. And I've created mine around 5 different things you see in wynn. As well as some themes which aren't as present and therefore not keyworded.
Creatures with with Deck Out get bonusses whenever they get equipped for the first time each turn. A way to incentivise people to put more equipments on one creature, effectively creating a "build"
Grow is put on permanents which can grown in their effect. What this effect is varies wildly. Just like how you grow in power in every sense of the word throughout your journey of leveling.
Make Place makes you sacrifice other creatures for an additional effect on each sacrificed creature. Giving a real vibe that the big-bad-boss has arrived.
In control gives you bonusses if you have have three or more untapped lands. Which represents guilds having controlof certain lands.
Reconsider is an alternate way to cast a spell, and allows for to grab another spell and use that instead. It might look like a wall of text at first, but after understanding it you don't need to read it again so whatever. It's all about those times there was a choice on doing something or not. Both for the players and NPCs.

    The art
You might've clicked those spoilers and thought: Hey, creature, I didn't know you were such an amazing artist. Could you make some art for me?
The answer is no, and this art isn't mine, none of it is. I have referenced each artist on the left bottom of the card. As highlighted in red here. If you really want to find an artist or art piece but can't, I have the URL of the place I found each card stored. So feel free to ask me whenever you want to find one of these creators of beauty.

Want to play with the cards?
There currently isn't an accessible online way to play. But you have my permission to print it out and play with people. I might also try and set up a way to put this in tabletop simulator. If anyone wants me to.

This is pretty dang cool and a lot of work has been put into them. I haven't played Magic in a while but here's some other suggestions if you decide to make more. There are probably plenty more but I will go this far, good job none the less.
Aledar Cart(This may not be surprising)
Other Custom Lands(Like Llevidgar, Olux Swamp, Cinfras Plains, The Forgery, etc.)
    Bob the Zombie
Bob the Warrior(Could have some thing to the affect of when Bob the Warrior dies, flip over to reveal Bob the Zombie)
    Dungeon Boss Monsters

Spit it out. Who told you about anti-airship golems?!?

The everlasting pufferfish was so cute...
    Talking mushroom really didn't disapoint.
    Nohno's Panic Button??
Fruman Wall tell the truth we had to know...

Maybe lore for Roots of Corrupion could be "The madness lies here, there is no escape once you enter..."?

I must say amazing work, although I would personally appreciate a line of lore where possible.
