Wynncraft Items: Definitions And References.

The other day, I wondered where the Development team got the names for some of the items in Wynncraft, and so I decided to look some of them up. These are some of what I was able to find. Enjoy!

Maelstrom (noun):
-A large, powerful, or violent whirlpool.
-A restless, disordered, or tumultuous state of affairs.

Ethereal (adjective):
-Extremely delicate or refined.
-Heavenly or celestial.

Chakram (noun ):
-A throwing weapon from India. It is circular in shape with a sharpened outer edge. (Thanks @RIP|captainganon and @Haxii !)

Adamantite/Adamantine (adjective):
-Utterly unyielding or firm in attitude or opinion.
-Too hard to cut, break, or pierce.
-An impenetrable rock; a rock with immense solidity or hardness. (Thanks @Cubie !)

Stalagmites (noun):
-A deposit formed on the floor of a cave or the like by the dripping of percolating calcareous water.

Heliophilia (noun):
-The love of the sun.

Coure de Lion (translation):
-(French) Lion's Heart. (Thanks @MouseCube !)

Audacity (noun):
-Boldness or daring, especially with confident or arrogant disregard for personal safety, conventional thought, or other restrictions.

Diablo (translation):
-(Spanish) Devil.

Opulenity (noun):
-The act of being wealthy, rich, or affluent.


Meanderthal (adjective):
-A play on words between the word Meander (to walk aimlessly) and Neanderthal (Primitive, unenlightened, or reactionary; culturally or intellectually backward).

Erratio (translation):
-(Basque) Rational; at reason with.

Venison (noun):
-The flesh of a deer or similar animal as used for food.

Kratke (translation):
-(Slovenian) Short.

Millennium (noun):
-A time period of 1000 years.

Bloudil (translation):
-(Czech) Blundered. (Thanks @Betka.101 !)

Carapace (noun):
-Shell; shield.

Dalaam (pop culture reference):
-A sky city in Earthbound.

Ectoplasm (noun):
-The outer portion of the cytoplasm of a cell. (Thanks @Comimato !)

The Elder Wand (pop culture reference):
-Reference to Harry Potter.

Switch Blade (pop culture reference):
-Reference to the AC Games.

Little Inferno (pop culture reference):
-A game produced by the Tomorrow Corporation. (Thanks @Red-Eyed Knight !)

Charon's Left Arm (pop culture reference):
-Reference to Fallout 3's "Charon".

Fierté (translation):
-(French) Pride. (Thanks @le_mega_barbare !)

Dévoreuse (translation):
-(French) Devourer.

Fourchette (translation):
-(French) Fork.

Griswold's Edge (pop culture reference):
-Reference to an item in Diablo I.

Armageddon (noun):
-End of the world; final battle.

Wirts's Leg (pop culture reference):
-Item from Diablo II.

Wildwing (pop culture reference):
-Reference to "Blessings of the Wildwing" set for Enchantress, from Dota2.

Couteau (translation):
-(French)Knife.

Tactical Kukri (noun):
-Tactical Knife.

Mithril Leggings (noun):
-Leggings made of a common magical material in many fantasy/middle Earth writings.

Meltok (translation):
-(Hungarian) Worthy.

As a matter of fact, a majority of the countries around Slovenia have that same word in their dictionary.

Isn't Diablo named after the game since Salted is a fan of it?

 

This game called Diablo which translated to devil because it's considered hard for a lot of people.

That's what I know.

 

Stalagmites, Crystal and Adamantite are all rock-related things. Stalagmites are the spikes from the bottom of caves, Crystals are.. crystals, and Adamantite is a type of rock.
I don't actually know why "Blue Mask" is called that though. It doesn't fit with the other 3 at all, unless it has a meaning I'm unaware of.

 

A chakram is a throwing weapon that actually exists.

Seems to be French (according to google translate detector). Anyone from France?

Ekeloch (translation?)

I am Czech and I would translate Bloudil as a verb. In a sentence: On bloudil. - He was getting lost. (something like that xD) On bloudil v lese. - He was getting lost in the forest. Czech is a really hard language and google translate gets it wrong 90% of times... (the translation sounds really terrible)
Kratke sounds almost like a word in Czech (or Slovenian :D dunno). Krátké [cra:tke:] - short (ik someone already mentioned it, just saying its true ;) ) With my czech friend we always call Kratke krátké kalhoty (-short trousers or shorts). :)

The Elder Wand, wich is a reference to Harry Potter, and the Switch Blade, wich is most likely a reference to the AC games. Then there's also Little Inferno, wich is a game made by Tomorrow Corporation. ;)

Yes, I would also translate bloudit (infinitive) = "be lost", but not exactly I think you can get the best idea, when you combine "wander" and "be lost". You are lost and can't find a way, so you are wandering about.
