I mean, I can't sell them at the market or trade them with other players, fine. But why can't I sell them to the blacksmith, where is the harm there.

Even though this is 95% passive-aggressive, I would still love to hear the answer

Some of them are gained from a specific quest, so they don't want you to just buy them on the market, they want you to get it from the quest, or they are bought from a vendor, and I guess they want you to pay vendor prices for them (since vendor items are pre-ided)

You also cannot drop untradable items upon death even if you are below 5 soul points. (Something useful for Hunted mode, if you've ever heard of it)
(Also useful for items like hive items that you cannot replace if you lose them)

What about selling them to blacksmiths. The main purpose of this thread?

Maybe cuz you usually only get one per character, so they don’t want you to lose a possible valuable item. Like imagine selling an Altum spatium, a necklace of a thousand storms, or chef Hamsey’s apron (I’ve seen a non-zero amount of builds use chef hamseys apron) not knowing they might be useful items.

    Idk :3
Maybe the devs were drunk when they made that rule.

With the next IM patch, you can sell certain Quest reward items to other players/Blacksmith as they're becoming tradeable. Most Untradeable items will remain untradeable, however.
Some of these items are fairly powerful, mind you. The reason they exist is because you have to earn them rather than buy them (you're still trading in quest rewards to get some of them, e.g. Anima-Infused Cuirass for a Master Catalyst from The Qira Hive), and they're fairly powerful compared to their regular counterparts - just look at Deadeye, a Fabled bow that fires five powerful arrows that can shred anything between Level 40-90 that isn't a boss.
