SPOILER Why Cata Won't Be Nerfed Incredibly

So, you see an update approaching you. One that may or may not screw you over. What do you do? Definitely not sell your cataclysm.

This is why.


You all know that Selvut will nerf the living crap out of most of the "op" mythics *Cata is balanced*, and will most likely bomb Cataclysm. I will give you a reason to keep yours, if you own one.

First off, Re-id's

So you know how if something new gets added to the item, it doesn't show up unless you re-id it. Take stalagmites for example, they didn't have earth damage till it was buffed in a recent update, but did not show up unless you re-identified them. Likewise, with cataclysm. If Selvut adds -hpr on it (which I doubt he will, due to the negativity from grandmother) it wont show up unless you re-id another cataclysm, or find one. I'm sure he knows this, to which he will most likely attack the -hp. If Selvut truly wanted to do something, he would just make the minimum -hp 4000 or so. Obviously, he can't do much more than that without forcing everyone to re-identify their cataclysms. He can of course, turn the walk speed from 20% max *I believe it is* to something of -50%, however that is not the thunder elements "thing."

Second off, Grimtrap

K, so we all know Grimtrap is incredibly op. From Id's to damage, this thing has legit no drawbacks (I kid you not, if you think -1/4 mana steal does something, your plain dumb). We know this dagger will have a huge nerf. Hence, Cataclysm will most likely reign the best dagger around (unless my theory of inferno replacing flameshot hilt happens...) which will most likely increase the price a little, or keep it at current standings.

Third off, Damage

It's a thunder weapon, It has to have high damage. Selvut will most likely kill it like what happened to Az, though I garuntee you you'll still do high dps regardless of what happens.


Honestly, there are a billion reasons why you should keep your cataclysm, not just because I told you it's a good idea. Feel free to spam toxic crap below.

 

I believe both the damage and hp should be nerfed. However, since it's a thunder weapon it should still deal absurd damages.

 

will probably take 2-3 updates to balance this thing out. Will turn into Grimtrap real fast

What I feel people don't understand is that there's kind of a threshold where damage just becomes too much....

 

Remove the specialist... Then you've got a deal

 

Give the Specialist negative damage. Mobs will gain HP instead of losing it! XD

 

So you are speculating that a change that we have no info about on the basis that you are saying that another change that we have no info on is going to be worse...

But seriously, if you know selvut, and you've seen what he's done over the passed years, you can start predicting viable options.

I'm fairly sure it will be nerfed, not sure if incredibly though.
From what I've heard the minimum damage will be lowered drastically, and the maximum will be lowered a fair amount. I've also heard rumors about changes to the health debuffs and powder slots.

 

They could do what they did with Gavel and make everything UnId... Then we're forced to.

 

The hatred would be too big if they did that

looking at how selvut feels about nerfing items etc (can be seen in his special warning rant) i would say he does care a lot
