Why are wynncraft players less toxic than HSB players?

I get smaller sample size and all, but I have never been scammed on wynncraft so far. People don't bash me for sucking and throwing raids by accident. People ragequit out of parties with a single missclick on HSB dungeons.

Simply cuz Wynn players are exposed to toxins more and have become tolerant or even resistant to them. For example: most endgame players spend a good chunk of time in the toxic wastes, and most players spend time around corruption, which is pretty much poison. Skyblock players lack this resistance to poison due to there being little to no experiences (source: i didnt look it up so trust me bro) involving heavy doses of poison and are therefore unable to build proper resistance and must therefore spew it back out as a physiological response to a disruption of homeostasis.

Also might be cuz wynn caters to a slightly older demographic, the economy doesn't affect 99% of people that much, and the most competition there is are guild wars and those festival minigames.

 

Higher barrier to entry.

The game is first and foremost a long storyline with tons of dialogues and tasks. And it requires 1.20 to play.

This already filters out everyone under 10; everyone who's exclusively into infinitely-repeated sword minigames aka everyone under 15; and everyone who can't read, which seems to be a worrying majority of those under 25.

 

Speculation of course but I think it's because Wynncraft as a game is far less tedious and/or infuriating as HSB and therefore the people who play it are way less toxic.
Kinda like how Paladins players are less toxic than Overwatch players.

 

I'd say its due to how the communities have changed over time due to the specific things you do for rewards. I haven't played wynn since the beginning, but generally wynn has very very few activities where you directly compete for resources. I remember that hsb had toxicity in places like the end island where in order to grind for rare drops the optimal way to do it was to try and kill things before other people could get them. Wynn actually did have a bit of a pocket of toxicity back when chests were serverside where people lootrunning would get mad at random ppl opening chests that were on their lr path. Nowadays theres no real benefit to being mean to people and even scamming isnt as big of an issue because theres no outbidding anyone on the market so there isnt as much of an incentive to get absurd amounts of money.

 

It's because SkyBlock is a more grindy game and players always want the most optimal times

 

I think it's three major factors:
1. Basically luck. Communities are self-reinforcing. You're more likely to become toxic if you enter a toxic community, and conversely more likely to become nice if you enter a nice community.
2. As said above, a higher barrier to entry. You're going to get less crappy, toxic players because they won't be interested in Wynncraft's content, which is primarily story-based up to the endgame, and has minimal levels of raw grind.
3. Wynncraft's smaller. A bigger fanbase will have more crappy players, which can feed into #1. It's easier to keep a good community when the community's small.
It could also be said that something about the design of HSB versus Wynncraft makes HSB more toxic, but I don't really know enough about game design to detail that point, so I won't. TY's suggestions seem sensible enough; HSB is competitive in ways that foster toxicity.

 

wynncraft have "no scamming" as part of the server rule which is why you dont see them (because scamming people could literally get you banned)

Doesn't matter did you finished the raid with your PB or even with 20 minutes and 1 person alive, you will still get the same reward(only different depends on luck for reward pull).
However on HSB your performance in dungeons weight much heavier on what end reward you getting, which make the whole dungeon gameplay more sweaty lol

Though there are toxic people out there in wynn, you just dont see them lol
