Why Are Some Quest Rewards Untradable?

Something that has always puzzled me is the fact that many quest rewards (Mummy's Rag, Generator Amulet, etc.) are untradable, while others (Bob's Battle Chestplate, Bob's Mythics, Greaves of Honor, etc.) are tradable. What's the reason for the seemingly random tradable and untradable items?

 

Because some items are required later on and we can't have idiots trading them away and then needing them later, or selling them.

 

That's quest items like corrupted potatoes. I'm pretty sure no later quest needs the Mummy's rag.

 

As for those, I don't know. There's probably a reason I don't know.

Though, I thought I'd recently heard that the Mummy's Rag was required for something, but that's unlikely true.

 

Maybe you're thinking of the mummy's bandage quest item for the ToL?
