    I have tried to change the version to a lower version, which failed. I have tried opening and closing minecraft, deleting and retyping in the server , and even restarting my computer but nothing has worked! Please help

    Ok well... maybe downloaded minecraft launcher, or just go to 1.8.9 or get Optifine or Restart you Router if none of this works well........... your screwed :3
