When Do You Open Christmas Presents?

I was just wondering when everyone does it! Here in Finland we open them on the 24th aka christmas eve, yet plenty of people open them on christmas day!

 

I open them on the 25 of December aka Christmas

 

I open them on christmas, as you're supposed to by tradition because I am cursed by a trait known as honor.

I open one on the 24th then the rest on the 25th.

 

I don't usually receive Christmas gifts as I ask people not to give them, I'm a bit of a penny pincher on behalf of others. However, if someone makes the effort to send or gift me something I usually open it as soon as it arrives if they've given me the go ahead. As such, I answered whenever I find them.

When I was a kid, my siblings and I would open them on Christmas day for the ones at home, and whatever day it was at the time when we visited relatives.

Whenever we find my mom's hiding spot.

 

My mom's hiding spot is in a highly crowded closet, and it's door is blocked by a carpet... So I don't bother (And my parents get the presents around the 20th anyway...)

In Spain Christmas is so fun, it lasts about 2 weeks, not just 1-2 days. On the 24 we eat a huge feast with paellas, and a turkey stuffed with truffles, this usually takes about 4 hours, as the feast is long and parties are plentiful. After the feast we head over to the church and participate in a roosters mass, where again, songs are plentiful and it is generally a different type of mass, it is more happy and upbeat. After the rooster mass all of the church goes out onto the street, and start making noise with drums, tambourines, music is played, parades, and more. This goes on for about 3 days then on December 28, we have the US equivalent of April fools day, where people prank, and make fun of each other. We do this to signify when King Herod killed all the babies in biblical times. Then, different things are done on New years eve. For me, because i am Cuban, we roast a pig on a stick, and invite all of our family and it is just another day of party, and sleepless. Between January 1-6, the most important part of a Spanish Christmas is here, three kings day, and the epiphany. They are many parades, music is played all over the streets, festivals are everywhere, THEN on January 6, we receive our presents because it is the day that the 3 kings gave presents to the baby Jesus. Somewhere during December 20-30 small children write letters to the 3 Kings askind them for presents. The Spanish Christmas has a very significant religious portion, with the Epiphany being more important then December 24-25 its self, as this is where all the festivities are held. It is a long, but extremely fun time of the year, and i reccomend all of you if you are coming to spain, go during Christmas time as you will love it.

On a side not, different communities of spain have different traditions, it might be slightly different depending on the region of Spain as they are al very unique and different in their own way.

 

I open presents on Christmas Eve (24) that my family has given me, and then on the 25th I open presents that I got from Santa.
And then I open presents on my birthday.
And whenever else I get them.

 

I get presents on the 24th from my close family, then on the 25th from dad's side of the family and on the 26th from mom's side of the family. This means I get presents three days in a row!

Both days. The family comes over the 24th answers open gifts then, but then "Santa" comes on the 25th and we have more gifts that morning...

 

Oh gosh, I didn't know anyone opened them not on christmas in other cultures. Well, here, we do it on christmas.

 

We actually open presents on both the 24th and 25 here. Or, we used to
