Whats With The Story Of A Hunter's Calling

I literally cannot comprehend it. The player in the scenes, being another character I understand, but stuff like the corruption actually taking over Nesaak, makes me confused.
Are most of the cutscenes in this quest an illusion?

would be nice if there was a little more insight into who that actually is

 

I take it as alternate realities where different actions made different time lines.

 

your goal as player is to finish the game and the quest says that they won't give you an ending after showing you that you have the power to end

 

The different scenarios are what would happen to the world if you chose the evil path.

 

However some of them, like the destruction of ragni, is in the perspective of a monster, because bakal "made" them. While others (or 2 that I remember) makes the evil character kill Maxie and Aledar & Tasim
