What's the deal with the Ice Barrows Horse prize?

I just finished Ice Barrows for the first time, and I noticed that the brown horse is a prize from the ice barrows. It does'nt seem like its an upgrade in any way but it requires a brown horse to get in the first place. What's the deal with it?

 

It has 1/15 instead of 1/10
It has plus 5 max but I would just get a black horse minimum if I were you

 

So, 3 dungeons (Ice Barrows, Galleon's Graveyard, and Corrupted Decrepit Sewers i think) let you trade some of the dungeon rewards to upgrade a horse's max stats by 5.
Ice barrows upgrades brown horses, Galleon's Graveyard upgrades black horses, and CDS upgrades chestnut horses.
