I personally use 8 strength, 70 defense, and 70 agility because it makes you practically invincible and you can still deal tons of damage with multihit/smoke bombs.

For the training spot, I would recommend using the Wolf Pit near Nesaak. Here's a guide made by @Submonsterine:

If you're laggy, go for max defense.
70 def, 70 str, 8 int.

Farming places for level 40:
Desert, mesa. (This is where I farmed when I was at level 40-45).
