    In my eyes, guilds as they stand are essentially declared cliques. They act as a pretty good medium for meeting new people, communicating with them, and for organizing parties or events -- as long as the guild is active, that is.

    And for those with a more competitive drive, guild battles are a nice extra option for killing boredom.
