Toxic Trade Market [rant]

The Trade Market is a relatively peaceful area of the forums. Just people selling items, trying to get by as best as they can in the rough, gritty world of Wynn. But then you have the toxic forums people who feel the need to tell you that one time their friend's friend's cousin twice removed once bought an item that you're selling for a lot cheaper than what you're selling. It happens constantly and is rather annoying. Of course, if someone's price is outrageous, you should mention it to them, maybe PM them... But it's usually when the price is completely reasonable and they just have to tell you about their rare exchange for much less than what you have the item listed as. For example, I got a 50% Jera from an Item Bomb and decided to auction it to make some money. Started at 10le (I think), min inc of 1.5le, and a buyout of 1/2 stack. I felt like that was reasonable for a near max Jera, as I didn't want to sell my max one. But the first comment I got was some new forums member who told me "The price isn't reasonable for the stats at all! I would maybe offer 22eb" ... *facepalm* Fast forward a few days, I sold it to a very nice lad for the buyout. I just feel like players need to chill out and maybe price check. Sorry for this rant, but it happens very often and I think some people should just think before they post their comments.

 

That’s not the only toxic part of Wynncraft...

This is the type of crap I have to deal with on mp every time I play, so if someone’s being toxic I make them regret it.

I especially like those who feel the urge to tell you that "YOUR ITEM IS LITERALLY SHIT LOL", as in "HEY PEOPLE, DON'T BUY IT XDDDDDDDDDD".

I once heard someone say that the trade market is a cruel place. I don't really think that they're wrong.

With so many people on Wynncraft, the market will always be very chaotic, and I'm just not talking about prices and stuff. I agree that people should do research, but with the sheer amount of players that probably won't happen. People may want to scam you, others may just no know much. I think that the easiest thing to do is just ignore them, and maybe try to show them other times that a certain item was sold to show them that their price is wrong. Just don't get toxic back and hopefully things will get resolved. Then again I don't really do trading much so I'm definitely not be the best expert on this.

 

That can mean many things, from flame wars to simply talking some sense into those cruel beasts. I won’t do anything irrational.

 

So you talk about toxicity about the trade market but use an example of a new player being ignorant of the trade market. Like WynnChaiman said above:

If your gonna make a rant thread, please make sure your examples don't talk about another thing.

To add onto my point, in the rant, you talk about people talking about how this item is cheaper than this island sold. You could of used an example like:
Toxic person: "Lol nice jera, don't buy this scam as :link: has the same jera half the cost lolol"

 

I swear to god this one time I was selling a 20 skill points Prism with starting price of 28LE and buyout of one stack & 16LE and I had like 2 guys shout "overprice" at me (This was back when Prisms were at peak price).
The problem mostly isn't people not knowing market prices, But people selectively choosing to be ignorant of said market prices when it benefits them.

 

Meaning being ignorant is still pretty toxic...

Problem being: When you point out their mistake, even if it is on purpose or if they just don't know better, many people will actually get toxic, because, well, people REALLY hate being in the wrong...
I agree though, that toxicity and ignorance are not one and the same.
