So I'll preface this theory with this: this isn't a theory I'm too confident in. However, there are some interesting points to be made here that I want to make. Any arguments are appreciated.

When the Wynncraft 2.0 trailer dropped, people's first reaction to the Nameless Anomaly was that it looked like a dark version of the Realm of Light portal. I even saw a few people saying the areas in the raid looked like the Realm of Light. And yeah. They do.

    Here's the portals:

    upload_2022-7-17_17-50-53.png

You'll notice that they are both a large pit with a dark hole at the bottom and have beacons coming from their heart. I'm sure this was a deliberate design choice. This isn't really important until later in the theory, so we'll move on for now.

What we know about the Blueshift Archipelago is that it's an area in the void that is heavily influenced by Darkness and is home to The Nameless, a mysterious entity who can open void holes at will and has been creating the void holes seen across the Silent Expanse. In fact, the TNA raid entrance is canonically a void hole. Despite this, the area doesn't appear to have any darkness spikes or structures. The only thing there that is known to be related to Darkness is actually, to my knowledge, glow bulbs. This doesn't count the mobs there of course.

I used to just accept that the Blueshift Archipelago was a group of void islands related to the Darkness, and left it at that. However, I realised today that the only other void islands we know of are the ones under Ahms, and also the ones in a couple of secret discoveries in the Silent Expanse, as well as in A Journey Further. As we know, the Ahms region was collapsed by the Ahms Colossus and sent into the void. What collapsed to create the Blueshift Archipelago? And, for that matter, the other void islands seen in other void holes?

I think that the Blueshift Archipelago may actually be the remnant of what the old Realm of Light actually was.

In Realm of Light 5: Lari has this to say upon entering the realm:
    upload_2022-7-17_18-17-5.png
It's revealed in the quest that Orphion turned off the monoliths in the realm to protect the island they were on from getting corrupted or darkened. This must have caused the remaining islands to float off into the Void, however, as Lari states that there used to be many more islands than just the few that remain (there are a couple of islands still near the entrance oddly enough).

So where did they end up?

At the start of each room in The Nameless Anomaly, you are whispered something about the void and Darkness. Here's a collection of all the dialogues:
    upload_2022-7-17_18-29-16.png
It states that Darkness "took root" in the Void. This means that the Dern Beast did something to gain some power over it. I theorise that the smaller void islands seen in various secret discoveries that feature red spikes and dark ground are deliberately broken off parts of Dern that were sent into the void to gain control of anything there. It makes sense, since the Dern beast is known to damage its own belongings to gain an edge if necessary (e.g the Eye) and... used the pieces of the Realm of Light as a base????

It's confusing and I don't think that's the case. I do slightly believe that the Blueshift Archipelago is from the Realm of Light though, and I'll get further into some evidence for it right now:

First, some screenshots I took from the raid and of the Realm of Light:

    upload_2022-7-17_18-38-47.png

    upload_2022-7-17_18-47-43.png

Notice the similarities. Ground made of concrete powder, gargantuan trees (that can both be entered by the way), strange layered trees, pole-like plants, vibrant colours and lots of flowers. Typically I would take the fact that there are trees there as nearly conclusive evidence, however the Gateway Realm from the 2.0 version of fantastic voyage does actually have trees, so this is not the case. The trees do not appear to be dark though, as darkened trees typically have a grey and blue base (seen in the Eyeball Forest and Kander Forest).

At Orphion's Nexus of Light, there is a notable amount of corruption and purpleness building up due to the Dark influence, so if the Nameless Anomaly is indeed a part of the Realm of Light, it has likely not been physically touched by the Darkness.

The blue theme can be explained though. The void found under Ahms has primarily purple ground and grey trees. You could say this is due to the lack of sunlight, however if this was the case the plants would just die. I think it's more likely that plant life (and animal life too) gets changed while in the Void by some kind of magic. The villagers who still live there have turned purple and there's also a strange purple energy in the area that is likely unrelated to the Darkness. This would explain why the Blueshift Archipelago is blue; it's because of the "void magic" in the area.

The creatures in the Blueshift Archipelago are quite unlike the ones in dark-themed areas like the Silent expanse. Typically, the dark creatures are eldritch nightmares of some kind, but in the Blueshift archipelago there are some more whimsical (albeit still darkish) creatures like the Gunge-Gunge, Limboians, and Dernapiens. The Dernapiens may be from Dern as their name certainly sounds like it, but a lot of the other mobs in the area are much less eldritch than what most Dark-themed areas contain. There are, of course, still eldritch beings there, but I think quite a few of the lifeforms that inhabit the area are possibly beings from the Realm of Light that have had to adapt to the Void now that they live there, much like the Void Villagers.

One of the rooms involves 1 player carrying some kind of light energy thing through a dark room to guide their teammates. Why this kind of light would be present is odd but it would make sense if the Blueshift Archipelago was once the Realm of Light.

As for the portals looking similar as I mentioned earlier, we know that The Nameless first tore open a massive gap in reality, being the large void hole which leads to him.
The Realm of Light portal was opened by the Guardian of the Forest being cut down, so maybe doing that somehow caused another large gap in reality to form which led to the Realm of Light? I don't know how this would work but it's a possibility.

There are a few pieces of counter-evidence to this theory:

    • There are no mushrooms or large flowers
This one could maybe be explained as "they have all died off" or, in the case of the flowers, devolved into a smaller plant, but i don't know.
    • The dark beings there aren't creating corruption from simply being present
    • We haven't been to Dern yet so we don't know what it looks like
    • This could be a collapsed part of another realm entirely
    • There are blue dern spikes next to the portal so unless there is an immense amount of "void magic" leaking out and turning them blue, this doesn't work.
    • If the area is influenced by darkness, why isn't there corruption everywhere?

The 2nd and 6th points of counter-evidence are both the same, and I think a creature of light being in the same room as a creature of darkness wouldn't cause corruption, as it was stated that "corruption is caused by the realm of light and realm of darkness clashing". Emphasis on "clashing".

Maybe that's also the reason of the parasite entering the realm of light without turning it into a realm of corruption, and the reason (a player of light after being transformed during A Journey Beyond) also isn't causing the Silent Expanse to turn into something like the Wynn Province.

But then a problem arises, which is that in both cases there was clashing, the parasite infected Orphion (and likely killed to get to Orphion), and the player also killed a lot of hostile creatures during A Journey Beyond. And yea, I have no idea how to respond to this because in both cases there weren't any corruption I know of.

I suppose it's just that corruption isn't actually the cause of a creature of light and a creature of darkness clashing, but the opening of the Light Portal (as shown in the new version of Aldorei's Secret 2).

TL;DR: corruption isn't the cause of a being of light and a being of darkness clashing but the opening of the light portal.

Pretty good theory, but there's a way simpler explanation: it's in the name!
"Blueshift" is a physical phenomenon that occurs when a source of electromagnetic waves are moving closer to the observer. These waves get compressed, increasing their energy but decreasing their wavelength, causing visible light to literally appear more blue. Something that emits light is approaching the player. I'm not sure if it works the other way around, by which I mean the observer moving towards the source, but it's a fair argument.
However, there is a strong counterargument: blueshift also occurs when photons fall into an energy well, such as a black hole. Realistically, only stuff moving at relativistic speeds (really god damn fast) would get noticeably bluer to the naked eye. Your atoms would be torn to shreds. But it would make sense for the raid's location to be near or perhaps even inside a black hole. It certainly lines up with the Bottomless Pit's lore.

One thing: when Lari and the Parasite fought, the clashing of their magicks created corruption spikes.

When you make your way around NoL during RoL5 (while Lari and Bak’al are fighting) there are a number of small patches of corruption with corruption spikes along the road. I do believe it has also been stated that Orphion willingly didn’t fight back much to prevent corruption, and that’s why he needs our help with the parasite.

As for ajb… it’s dark and light elements are :doom: and you will save yourself a brain-ache by ignoring them.
