Theory: Twitter Picture "2 Days Left"

Hmmmm. The text about the picture says "The forest: A "Decay" plagues it. The once flourishing forest of light has been slowly declining for centuries.." Now, this picture has three distinct possible "things" in it that I can see, one of which, the small glowing pink dot-like things, I believe are part of the longer things. I've magnified parts of the image, because, well, I'm intrigued. Very intrigued. No. Actually, I'm hyped. So, here it is. The images on the left, below, looks to me like they can be one of two things. Whichever they are, they are probably about 2 meters long. As I posted, below, they may be the mob, "Decay", or they may be the effect of the mob. The images on the right, below, also look like they could be one of two things. They are probably about 1/4th to 1/2 meter long. These look like they may be mobs, and if so, they have a very large effect, if their effect is what we see in the image on the left. However, they may be the eggs of the mobs on the left, also, or they could be an unrelated mob. Any other thoughts or ideas, anyone?

Interesting. I hadn't even taken it into consideration that the resource pack would change 'shrooms. You're probably right. I was focused on the larger "thingies" being Decay.

See the ? That's emoji for "I did that one on porpoise." Now, tell me what you think about the possible mobs? Giant worms? Large snakes? Humongous filoviruses?

I think you may be right - I was responding to vic when you posted. Those large ones look so much like snakes or filoviruses, that I got all flumoxed. GIANT VIRUSES in GAVEL?! Maybe?! Please?! Whoooohoooo!

 

I got an way crazier theory. Remember the realm of light? What if the portal uses the life power of the trees in the light forest to get power. Just look back at the teaser you see mushrooms and tree roots.

 

Would the portal use Decay, which I am presuming is a mob, as power, or a power transmitting source? Now, that would be nasty! The quest - kill Decay, shut off the portal, save the forest? Interesting theory.

 

I like your thinking, however not-zoomed in, it makes more sense.

The little circles are just bits of the tendrils coming off, and for the tendrils themselves, they do not look like a mob

Really? I've never been in Gavel, but I'm fairly certain this much is true.

 

So, the giant nasty worm boss has all the answers that I need? Hmmmmmm. Is it possible that the giant nasty worm boss is the adult form, and that the green "Decay" objects are the larval form? Why do I hear the final countdown music to Jeopardy playing in the background? Grian, you teaser!!

 

Maybe the worm boss is the cause of the decay and it's just sucking up all the magic n stuff.


It would explain why it's larva are purple. (If those purple things really are its larva)

uhh is it possible that they are both the Decay just different types of it? Like they change depending on the host or something?

If it was once full of life and it has been slowly declining for centuries, that means its still slowly loosing light right? So maybe the pink things are some of the small amounts of light slowly fading away.
But then again they seem to be coming out of the dark toward the trees so maybe that is the decay? And its stealing life from the last few trees to power something?

Or just a special effect because a normal forest would look boring.
(I bet all the admins are laughing at our stupid theorys. Thinking "lol noobs" as we try to actually put thought to why the artist of the pictures did some pink wiggles)
