@ocu do you now hate democracy
UPDATE: oculism still loves democracy, if not even more now

So a while ago, I made a survey for all the quests in Wynncraft, and asked yalls to rank them from worst to best, alongside some other things. And now... they're here. So without further ado, here are the results:

    Average Rankings:
I collected these through a table checkbox list thingy (you know what they are), and asked people to rank them from 1-10, the lesser values being worse and vice versa. The results can be found in the spoiler in descending order (also some might share a spot together, so make of those what you will, and some of them might have the same decimal values, but not be together, and that is because i rounded them to the tenths, so again, make of that what you will):

    • 2: Hollow Serenity (9, Lv 73)
    • 1: The Canary Calls (9.2, Lv 85)

Ok yeah, quite a bit of quests. I feel like the top 3 are somewhat aligned with mine (#3 - Forbidden Prison, #2 - The Canary Calls, #1 The Feathers Fly Part II), but hey, overall these designations are stuff I'd agree with (especially Lost Tower it is god awful and I stand by that until the day it inevitably gets replaced and/or reworked).

    The Extremes
On the survey, I also had a question that asked which quests were somebody's favorites and most hated. I collected these and measured how well liked is by the following method: each quest had an initial starting value of 0 points, and points would be added if they were on a top 3 list or deducted if they were on a bottom 3 list. If it was ranked in a specific order, then the most/least favored got +/- 3 points, 2nd most got +/- 2 points, and 3rd got +/- 1 point. If they were not listed in a particular order, then they got +/- 1 point. If a quest has a more extreme value, then it is more likely to appear in someone's top/bottom quest list. Of course, this is fallicious, as a quest with a more center-score could be extremely polarizing, with a bunch of people liking it and about as much hating it, which means you should take some of these with a grain of salt.

And without further ado, here are the results:
    • The Temple of the Legends (-9)
    • Elemental Exercise (-7)
    • Tower of Ascension (-6)

    Conclusion
So in the end, the best quests in Wynncraft would be the ones that follow a general rule of good game design, which I feel like all of the top 10 averagely-ranked quests do. So, in the end, this pretty much tells us nothing too out of the ordinary, but it does specify which quests follow these rules of good game design well. So if any GMs see this thread, if you followed these general rules, then keep on doing what you're doing, and to aspiring future GMs, take a quick look at some of these traits and see how the quests implement these. Of course, this might not cover all your bases, but it this should at least cover a few. And with that, we have learned "Love is patient, love is kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, love is not arrogant, love is not rude, love is not irritable, love is not resentful, Ḯ̸̫̦͘t bears a̴̝̚ll thin̶̹͒̄ͅgs, I̷͚͈̋̑t̵̏͂ͅ hopes a̸̯̔l̸̛̠͉l thin̶̹͒̄ͅg̶̙̣͂s̷̲͎͐, I̷͚͈̋̑t̵̏͂ͅ endures a̶̗̍l̷̡̢̚l̴̤͉̓ th̸͓͓́̓ì̸̠́n̸̡̖̽gs, I̸͚̎̆t̶̳̼͌ ̷͕̀́í̷̙͂s̷͉̹͂ everlasti-" oh wait no, wrong quote. "quests are cool ig." - that one funny creature in trippy forest

I'm honestly shocked Hollow Serenity didn't get the top spot. Democracy is weird sometimes.

Now I'm curious how many people took this survey. If it's actually a decent amount I might trust these results. Not that I think my quest doesn't deserve a ranking like that, but I do think it has its issues. Then again as its creator I'm always finding new ways to criticize it lol

What I don't get is why people like The Canary Calls so much. Me personally, it's gotta be like #15 or something. I feel the main reason why people like it so much is that the Canary is pretty much just an edgy Sans Undertale (??? guh). It checks (in my opinion) quite a few of the "bad quest" criteria:
    • Unfun (subjective)
    • Repetitive (the "follow the rails" mining part where you're just breaking blocks)
    • Vague directions (you literally just wander around a room for one portion and for the dialogue you can just die for no reason)
    • Grindy (follow the rails)
    • Poorly thought-out puzzles (again- select the wrong response to the canary and you get sent to ahmsord. great.)
    • Simple parkour/dungeon crawler feeling (you're literally just making your way through a tunnel for a solid portion of it)
    • Excessive parkour (there was way too much of the minecart parkour)
    • Buggy (eh, not too buggy, but the minecart section can be hell if there's lag and such; and again, you don't even get sent to thesead when you die, you get sent to ahmsord)
Now, Elemental Exercise- it's definitely not the 3rd worst quest. Yes, it's short, and yes, it doesn't have a huge significance in the lore, but it's just a nice little quest. It's not overly linear (you're not just walking through a series of puzzles, ahem) and it's not just a straightforward "go fetch me a something" (although it does tell you to do so, but that's not the point); there's a little exposition, then an unexpected twist, and it all ties together nicely.

I'd say the main reason why Canary Calls is so well liked is because of how unique it feels to the rest of the gameplay, and how some of the secrets are meant to be found by wandering around, and while the minecart parkour is hard, you get the option to skip a section if you fail it too much. I can kinda see why some people didn't like it too much though.

As for Elemental Exercise, the main reason why it is far more hated than other quests like it is because it is meant to be a tutorial quest about elements, and you are lied to within it, as well as it being an ineffective tutorial to round it all off.

Might as well put my inputs on the other bottom 3 quests here too:
Cook Assistant: I feel like this does not deserve all the hate it has for it. It's meant to be a short quest, and if it got above the concept of "bring me these items k thx bai" then it could come off as intimidating or setting the standard too high.

Lost Tower: I hate this quest. This is a glorified mini-quest. Yes, it's because it is very dated, and that is exactly why it needs to be reworked or removed/replaced. There's not even anything interesting about it, it's just go to a place, get an item, come back, and boom you're done. Ig there's a miniboss in there, and it wouldn't be too bad if it was at least decent, but no. Just a wither skeleton. That's it.

There are no quests that Elemental Exercise should be above, however 122nd place will have to do.
I'm honestly surprised at Cook's Assistant being so low - honestly, I kind of enjoyed the quest, as, while it is simply a fetch quest, it only takes a couple minutes and is pretty relaxing and peaceful.
Lost tower? I'm fine with the quest - finding the tower itself was mildly annoying, but outside of that, it feels just like a secret discovery pretending to be a quest.
Other than that, I only have a few complaints.
Primarily, The Ultimate Weapon should've been higher - while top 20 is nothing to laugh at, the quest deserves better, as I found it quite funny and an even better mockery of fetch quests.
The Hero of Gavel should be lower - I might just personally have bad experience with bugs and poor design, but I disliked the quest a lot.
I am overjoyed with the Wynncraft community, since Forbidden Prison gets its (deserved) spot in the top 10.
At first, I was confused (and perhaps even a bit upset) at The Order of the Grook's spot in the top 10, but then I thought about it. Honestly, it's a top-tier quest - a lot of work was put into it, the jokes were funny (not as good as The Ultimate Weapon, though), and all in all I like the quest.

Honestly? I'm not surprised that The Canary Calls is #1. I could write a whole essay about why it's the greatest, but I'll just sum it up with this:
    1. The NPCs are cool
    2. The lore is great
    3. The fight is amazing (when do we get Canary song)

What i've learned from this thread: wynncraft players are dangerous psychopaths with an extensive history of violence who will kill virtually harmless pirates-- who just wanted help tidying up their boat-- over what should be a minor inconvenience.
