The Labyrinth - Put It Up?

So uh, for those of you who are aware of the existence of my book, then you know I already released the prologue to initiate hype.

Because of my laziness, I didn't bother to work much on it, but I recently finished chapter 1- Boy in Distress
All I need is for some basic editing... @Coolfood

And then chapter 1 will be complete.
I was just wondering if you want me to post it up, or just wait until its all complete.

Until then, go ahead and reread the prologue and feel the hopelessness that you cannot read the chapters or storyboard.


Keep in mind this is my first attempt at writing a story.

PROLOGUE




The soul.

The immortal essence of a being that defines the person under the skin. Since ancient times, ever since the world was blessed by the gods, we have been given the ability to read our own souls.

That was what my soul read.

I was a level one with extremely low stats. They were terrible even to those who weren’t adventurers.
I was one of those people who never bothered to train, and was naive enough to think things would go my way.
Only a fool would attempt to delve into the Labyrinth’s depths with such pitiful strength. And that is exactly what I did.

The scream of a beautiful damsel in distress.
The swish of my sword as I answered her call.
The hiss of a monster’s dying breaths.
As I vanquished the monster and saved her life, the beautiful young maiden’s love for me would quickly blossom as she gazed upon the famous adventurer, Chime Ensis.

This, is a fictional story that were manufactured by the thoughts of an overly-optimistic child who had completely underestimated life.

“AAHHH!”
The scream of a helpless human adolescent rang throughout the second floor of the mysterious dungeon known only as the Labyrinth.

But it didn’t belong to a youthful damsel in distress no- the scream came from a thirteen year old boy- me.
Fwooosh
It didn’t need to run, it glided. And the sound it made signified it was shortening its distance between us at an alarming speed.

Perhaps life was not meant to be easy.
Perhaps I was not supposed to have it my way.
I would never get to correct these thoughts because I was about to die.

“No, no, no....” I gasped as I pushed myself to continue running.

I was out of magic energy. My entire body was in agony. I was drowning in a pool of my own sweat and my limbs felt like they were made out of solid lead. I turned a corner sharply, my black sneakers barely keeping me from falling down.
As I looked up from the ground, trying to ignore the cramps in my legs, I saw the words of the gods telling me to die.
A dead end.

“No… No… No!”
I slowed down, tripped and then fell onto the ground.
After all this, all the running through the countless corridors and passages, and I was going to die from a dead end.

The monster drew closer to me. I turned around and quickly scooted backwards until my back hit the cold wall. It looked like a gray flame roughly in the shape of a tall man, with chilling red eyes and huge claw-like fingers.

It was something I shouldn’t have encountered.
A monster so rare and so strong, I heard some people die just from looking at it.
A wraith.

“RAAAAA!!!!!” It screeched.

What do you wish for?
Money? Power? Glory?
Or perhaps something else entirely?
I believed every one of these dreams could be accomplished in the Labyrinth.

I had a dream.
Not a noble dream like world peace or the end of world hunger.
My dream was to become a hero. A popular hero surrounded in fame and fortune. I wanted to meet people, to at least have a nice girlfriend...

But that would never happen.
I will die alone, sitting on the ground, cowering in fear from the monsters in the dark. The adventurers that would find my corpse would laugh at it, immediately noticing how weak and foolish I was for venturing in the Labyrinth- a cruel and heartless place where people much stronger than me find death every day.


The monster flew closer- seemingly satisfied that it had finally cornered its prey. I shook intensely, my teeth chattering and tears flowing out of my eyes.
I… Don’t want to-

SSHHINGG!!!
I froze.
There was a burst of wind and the sound of metal sliding against leather echoed down the stone halls. A single silver line materialized directly in the Shadow’s chest and both the monster and I froze. The line sharply curved to the left, then the right, before finally slamming to the ground.

BOOM
The mist-like body of the wraith exploded, spraying an oily black liquid everywhere- including my face. I froze and held my breath. Everything had suddenly become quiet.

Ssshhh
The monster blood began disintegrating into black dust, which slowly retreated into the walls. The only part of the monster that didn’t disintegrate was a glowing red orb of mist that floated above the ground- it’s aura.
I slowly looked away from the monster- to catch a glimpse of my saviour.

Long golden-blonde hair and crystal-blue eyes. Slender limbs and pale skin. A flawless face that anyone could fall for.

My heart bounced around inside of my chest, and I felt like it could shatter into a million pieces at any moment. In front of me was a true hero. A person any commoner would know and aspire to try and be.

Celia Fane.

In this single instant, my delusional fantasies had become real.
My dreams came true, but not as I expected them. Millions of thoughts were flying through my mind, most of which I couldn’t comprehend.

But there was one thing that I knew for certain.
Celia Fane had captured my heart.

ehhh several years.
I kept on starting and stopping, rewriting the entire plot, and as my writing improved, I realized how bad my old ones were
