    Foreword

Firstly hi, I'm Pryxes or if anyone that knows me in real life Martin (call me Art, get it because you take out the M and the I and the ... o-ok I’ll stop ._.'). I'm 19 years old Slovenian boy and have a list of useless talents. One of these talents is uncontrollably writing page after page of any kind of story, lore or anything in particular that's related to something amazing that I saw, heard, read or it happened to me personally.

Which brings us to this... whatever I’ll call it. :P

While I always appreciate likes, I like feedback more. Mostly feedback that tells me how to improve or change.

Sooooo that's the end of my rambling.

Hope you like and happy reading.

PS: Naming of places might be weird because no one names these things and if they do... "lip smack" tell the I didn't see it!!!
And if there's bad english... screw it it's readable. ;P

    Prologue

    The Begining of ...

Let’s go to the beginning. Well not that that far. I don’t want to bore you with the history of how the humans were too greedy and opened the gates of all hell, And how the Villagers came to Wynn and helped the Humans gain back strength. No, no, no. I would like to tell you why I’m here and how the fate of Wynn will quickly change if we don’t act now.

Hello. My name is Pryxes. I’m a Watcher and a simple adviser to guide Wynn in the upcoming times. More than that, I cannot say. This will be the chronicle of my travels across the provinces of Wynn and Gavel, with the stories of how I help to guide this world and my involvement in the recent rumors of the next province over.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

It has truly been a long journey to the east. The Province of Wynn. A long time since I’ve been here. My colleague Magatx told me many stories from this side of the world and now it is my turn to see if the stories are true.

The caravan to Wynn slowly advanced on the Wynnstern passageway. This mountain pass was high up safe from any monster from the far land west from here. Sheer cliffs and seemingly bottomless ravens have met any attempts to climb over the mountains. There was no other way from Fruma to Wynn than Ragni’s Wynnstern Pass. I reached inside my breast pocket of the gray robes I wore. My beard was getting in the way but I finally managed to take out a small letter with a seal. I still remember the day I got this.

""Flashback: It was in that office room where Marius Twain said, “Here have this Mage. I’m sure it will come in handy to you someday.” Reluctant the mage accepted the small envelope. Laughter could be heard from the halls. Children ran pass the study room hoping Twain wouldn’t see them. “You have a good cause here Mr. Twain. These children would not survive without your guidance.” The mage said with an expression of pity. “Well I figured that us gifted have to protect one another you know how it is.” Twain said.""

Snapping back to reality, I looked at the letter. Old but well preserved. It is the only reminder of the old days. How everything used to be so simple.

“Ugh” I muttered covering my nose.

The Wynn Province. You can smell it from afar. The onslaught of the dead left behind more than just devastated towns and families. With it, it brought the smell of decay and unbearable sight of corpses roaming the plains. That wasn’t the worst Magatx told me. Once you get past the smell and the dead, another thing awaits. There are regions in the province that none dare enter. Twisted, cursed, corrupted and abandoned. Places that will keep you wake at night thinking if you’ll live to see tomorrow.

All of a sudden, the carriage I was in shook violently and a sound of wood snapping followed. The carriage horribly tilted to its back left wheel, almost flipping me out the back exit. I could have sworn I almost ate my beard this time.

Just my luck! I thought to myself. The wheel broke. It didn’t take long for the passengers to get off and start arguing with the driver of how they are going to be late and how this was unacceptable. Fools I thought to myself still trying to get out of the carriage.

“Let ma help ye, sir!” someone with a strong southern accent from Fruma said while offering a hand for me to grab it.

“Oh, thank you sonny. How polite of you.” I said while still stumbling a little over my drapes.

“Is na biggie, sir” the boy said and left to join the others.

I looked around the canyon. Truly we must be close I thought to myself. I vaguely remember these mountains. I approached the driver who seemed like he was going to cry for I was another passenger that came in to join the fray of arguing.

“Excuse me how far from here is the main gate?” I asked which seemed to take the others by surprise seeing as they went silent with shocked faces.

“Just up ahead there is a bridge. Once you pass it you’ll see the guards stand patrol at the cave entrance to Ragni, then it’s just a short walk through the cavern.” The driver replied.

I thanked him and collected my things from the carriage. Witch wasn’t much mind you, my old Cherry Wood Staff, some Wynn currency and an extra pair of socks was all I had with me. I started making my way to Ragni and enjoyed the scenery. It’s amazing how this ravine stayed completely untouched by the corruption.

Ah. There it was. The river cutting through the canyon officially splitting Wynn from Fruma.

However, something seemed wrong. What is that green shape next to two guards on the bridge? They don’t seem to be moving.

    BOOM!!!

An explosion occurred on the bridge. What happened? I saw the guards fall down into the ravine. I hurried my legs and walked faster. Finally reaching the edge of the cliff, I saw the damage. The wooden bridge was no more and I couldn’t see the guards in the water below.

“Bollocks…” I said while giving a silent prayer for the two lost souls. “What in blazes was that?”

I need to get to the other side and report this to the guards I thought while looking around for another way across. My eyes finally stumbled across a tall dead oak tree standing on the edge of the rivers ravine. It was hollow and already lost the battle with the termites.

“Hm. Yes you will do.” I said as I pointed my staff towards it. A shot of white sparks blazed towards the tree’s base from my staff, colliding with the bark and exploding on impact. A short pause separated the explosion and the sudden snap of the old oak. The tree slowly began to fall. Whit the final boom echoing through the whole valley it hit the other side of the ravine. Barely…

“That was fun.” I said to myself as I slowly got on the fallen tree. There was a small breeze not to noticeable on solid ground but up on the makeshift bridge of decayed wood and with the robes I had this slowly became a problem.

Finally! I said to myself as I reached the other side. Not the kind of adventure I was hoping for entering the Wynn province.

“Well then. Best to keep going. Ah! There! I can see the cave entrance.”

It was just as I remembered back then, only the wooden walls were renewed and the cave entrance completely sealed. I slowly made my way towards it. The cave entrance seemed a bit off. Was it taller? In the midst of my blundering, I failed to realize a guard was coming my way.

“Hoooold! Who goes there?!” The guard yelled.

“Just a traveler seeking passage into Wynn!” I said putting on a kind smile. “Oh. And also reporting of the fate of the bridge and the two guards!” I added.

“Gods… are they not okay? Old man, you better come quickly then.” The guard said with sorrow in his voice.

    Old? I’m not that old.

After giving my credentials to the gatekeeper, I passed into the cavern. The cave wasn’t much to look at but it showed the signs of the ongoing war with the restless evil. I looked back at the cave entrance and asked one of the guides.

“Did you expand the cave entrance recently?”

“Expand? Um no. Why would we. The only time the entrance expanded was when it collapsed more than a hundred years ago.” The guard replied confusingly.

Gosh dang it. I’ll need to do my research after I get to Ragni, I thought to myself. We were finally coming to the end of the cave and in front of us lied the doors of the palace. One of the guards, presumably the captain, said something to the others witch made them scatter to all directions. “I’m sorry but I’ll have to pull you aside for debriefing.” He said to me in a polite tone.

“Of course, I’m happy to help.” I replied to him in a polite tone, as we turned right for the barracks.

I hope it was the barracks. There is a possibility that even that had changed.
