Sorry mate, but this theory is 100% conjecture

 

#1- Rain? Most Civilizations go near rivers or water they don't depend on the rain to grow food and if they do its not that efficient. And the nearest body of water is about 30 meters below it so thats no help.
#2- I'm pretty sure i didn't say that crystals made them like that. I know the lore on them they were studying the meteors and due the the cosmic energy were gone insane. My theory is that these two Crystals would be the cure to their madness, not the cause.
