    There is an option, which allows only people-you-follow to post / answer messages on your profile, if I recall correctly.

    Because he doesn't want to be spammed by people wanting to post on a mod's profile page for whatever reason. It's nicer to be able to talk with people he trusts on his profile page rather than clutter; after all, it is mostly about yourself.
    If you actually wanted a legit answer though, you should tag tantibus himself.

    Because before I locked my profile I would get like 10 PMs in like an hour all about the same bug that I can't fix. And that kind of stuff happened all the time. And it got old. Quick. So only people I follow can post on my profile. It prevents me from getting a ton of messages but makes it so that people can post on my profile still. But I can't follow the whole forums, so sorry if I'm not following you.
