Mage/Dark Wizard Help Tank Mage

I’m looking for a very tangy mage build. Requirements:

- Enough damage to be able to get around in the world, but doesn’t have to be enough for boss battles (intended for tanky support role).
- Possibly able to use KOH as a secondary weapon for the heals?
- No mythics or crafted items
- Build intended for use in 1.20 raids, so the build should take into account new items / item changes

If anyone has a build that meets some of / all of the requirements or has the time to help out that would be great.

https://wynndata.tk/s/kd9ayu here's a pretty decent non-monster tank build (The custom helmet is Sizzling Shawl post 1.20). 129 int with 11/4 mr gives you high spellspam capabilities. It also has 14.8k meteors and 16.5k health. It's not the best in terms of sheer tankiness, but it will get the job done in fulfilling a bulky support role. If you want to sacrifice some damage for more health/defense, switch out Dupliblaze with Gold Solar Bracelet. This should help you until you get a Monster.

 

I mean, I can definitely afford a monster, but it doesn’t really look that good tbh. It only seems to help with damage which isn’t what I’m looking for.

 

Do not underestimate 150 defense (simply equipping monster from 110 -> 150 reduces incoming damage by 33%)

Both monster builds posted are functionally immortal, the peaceful rest one is... less so

The monster build is straight up 2x as tanky as the peaceful rest posted just because of the defense skillpoint

For what its worth I run a monster build that can walk through all of LI without needing healing, and still drops >20k dps (but this one is fast hybrid so definitely more niche)


If you ignore all of that and just want to use the peaceful rest build be my guest but swap out mpc for literally anything else since 11/4 is complete overkill at 129 intel

just gonna say the elemental defense is gonna bite you in the ass in the tank build
tanks feel -def way more

also you might want to mention what the CIs are (experienced class builders might recognize them and tbf these ones are pretty easily recognized but not everyone knows)

the peaceful rest isn't actually tanky though .-.

 

i just put the peaceful rest build there beacouse people were recomending peaceful rest and for the -def... welp idk how to fix it, any tips?

 

Just use any build with 60 Intelligence and 40 Defense with King of Hearts, I have a 12k hp 40/64 mage that's practically unkillable with KoH

note that the 65 agi is actually pretty important as it just about doubles your ehp

idk im not happy with this build

 

yeah, its overall good but the mana is too low
i think its a bit early to build stuff that you are actually going to use, becouse items are still getting changed and after the uptade comes they will be balanced again. So for now its better to just experiment and play around with the items.

 

Can I ask why you used the darksteel ring in this build?

Possibly:

Darksteel gives better elemental defense (thunder specifically, since thats the worst gap in this build); without it you have almost 2x worse -thunder

#ele def does matter (only when you're trying to play tank, and it looks like you're trying to play tank)

(but also mage has heal so maybe it doesn't matter after all idrk)
