Lore/Story Tales Of Wynn, Chapter 1: Broken Caravan

I said yesterday that I was planning on writing a story for Wynncraft. Here is chapter 1! Tagging @MouseCube , see if you like it :D

I - The Broken Caravan


- Walter -​

“Wake up! We’re here!”
I sat up, rubbing my eyes groggily. It really wasn’t easy falling asleep last night, with 4 people crammed together in the bumpy caravan, but now I didn’t want to be woken. I took a glance at my surroundings. Marion was standing over me, smiling, but nobody else was in the wooden carriage. She hopped out the back, leaving me alone. I got to my knees and packed the blankets the driver had given us. Then I left the bag in the caravan and stepped outside. Marion and Assad seemed to be arguing with the driver out front.

“What do you mean, you can’t take us all the way?”

“I am sorry, ma’am, but one wheel has broken. I could gather wood and fix it, but that could take hours! We’re almost there, anyway.”

She stormed off, leaving Assad convincing the driver to give a refund. I noticed Archie was leaning against a rock, still tired. He didn’t seem to notice me approaching.

“What’s up, old buddy?”

He raised his head enough for me to see his stormy grey eyes. I could never get over how strange they made me feel, like he was constantly watching everything around him.

“You know, I’m just… I don’t know.” He let out an exasperated sigh. “I can’t believe we’re all moving to an entirely new province. I know we’re all here together, and Wynn seems amazing, but… I guess I just miss our homes in Fruma.”

I couldn’t believe it either. All of us, Archie, Marion, Assad and I, would be changing our lives forever. But we always knew this is what we would do. The soldiers of Wynn are the toughest, bravest people around. They were our idols and role models as we grew up. And now, now I was going to become one. Sure, recruitment is dangerous, but that is the life that we dreamed of. And it was happening.

“I’ll miss Fruma too, but think of the great things we can do in Wynn! Even the mythical Bob fought for Ragni. The important thing is, all of us are together, and that’s what friends are for.”

Archie smiled. At least I could make him happy every once in awhile.

Assad suddenly appeared behind me, and tapped me on the shoulder. Seriously, it was like he could vanish and reappear whenever he wanted.

“The driver says that there’s a short walk from here to Ragni. Oh, and I got him to give us a partial refund for the trip!” He handed out some emeralds to everyone, the shiny gems smooth in my hand. I slid mine into my pocket.

“Everyone, get your weapons from the carriage. Can’t be fighting off many monsters without ‘em!” The driver pointed at the hooks we hung our accessories on. I grabbed my lucky spear from the holder. Assad took his shears, Archie got his bow, and Marion grabbed a stick. I remembered how while Assad, Archie and I all trained with the Fruman soldiers, she would go to a private class with these curious wizards. How she can do this magic, and with such simple weapons, I don’t know, but it’s still pretty awesome. She even enchanted Archie’s quiver so he never needs to restock on arrows.

I finally took a look at the surroundings. We seemed to be in some sort of canyon, with mountains on both sides. There was an obvious path forwards, towards the Province of Wynn. Behind us, a gate separating the lands.

I almost wanted to turn back. Were we really ready to do this? To start a new life in Wynn? And would we ever go back?

I tried to shake the thoughts out of my head. For now, we had only one goal. The others were already ahead. I began to walk down the road, the start of a new journey.

I love this story! Though, the serious tag isn't really needed.

One thing, you forgot that the driver gives potions but that's only a minor detail.

I'm not! Started this about a week ago, never written anything like it before. I must say, not too difficult.

 

Writing is a hobby for me, I could write my own and bring some competition :D mwahahaha!
