You ever wonder why there's no class that just uses swords?

    1. This thread is unfinished, but I'm updating it over time!
    2. Apparently light mode does not work well will this thread, as I use a variety of text colors, but if you're using light mode you have bigger problems than not being able to see the text on this post.
    3. I do know that this will never be added into the game, but I still think it's fun to make an idea like this!

    Overview
The Swordsman is a class that uses a Sword and Shield as its weapon. Unlike the other melee classes, it has a base resistance of 80%, taking 20% more damage like the Mage class.

The Swordsman's donator exclusive skin would be the Swashbuckler, changing the spells to look more aquatic and pirate-like.

    The Sword
The Sword is obviously what the Swordsman uses for its Main Attack. It has range in between a Spear and a Dagger, aside from that it's pretty self explanatory.
    The Shield
The Shield is what could be considered the Swordsman's special gimmick. You can raise your shield by pressing SNEAK, raising your shield makes you take 33% less damage while active.

You can only have your shield up for at most 5 seconds, and it has a cooldown of double however long you held it up for.

While your Shield is up, you cannot use your Main Attack or cast Spells. (This does not affect powder specials as you can still Left-Click while Sneaking to activate them)

    Spells
    Swing
    Click Combo: RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT
Swing a large sword in front of you, doing a large amount of damage in a large area.
    Mana Cost: 33

    Self explanatory.
    Shield Surf
    Click Combo: RIGHT-RIGHT-RIGHT
Get put on top of your shield and propelled forward, allowing you to surf on your shield after the initial boost.
(Press sneak while atop your shield to dismount)
    Mana Cost: 33

VERY similar to the shield surfing system from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This might be a coder's worst nightmare, but I think it's really cool.

While on your shield, you can use your Main Attack, but using other spells doesn't do anything. (At least right now in progression winking emoji)
    Sharpen Sword
    Click Combo: RIGHT-LEFT-LEFT
Doubles the damage of your next attack.
    Mana Cost: 50

Self explanatory, but I would like to mention that you cannot stack the damage bonus by using it multiple times before attacking.
    Sharpen Shield
    Click Combo: RIGHT-RIGHT-LEFT
Doubles the resistance from your shield the next time you raise it.
    Mana Cost: 50

Self explanatory. Like I mentioned with Sharpen Sword, you cannot stack the resistance bonus if you use the spell multiple times before raising your shield.

    Ability Tree
The Ability Tree for the Swordsman features three archetypes: the Tactician, the Vehicle Master, and the Parrier.

    Tactician
Tacticians used a variety of charged attacks to demolish any foe. (Delayed Damage, High Risks)
    • Difficulty: Medium
    • Damage: High
    • Defense: Medium
    • Range: Medium
    • Speed: Low
    Notable Tactician Skill Points:
Roughly ordered from top of the Skill Tree to the bottom.

    Tipper
Hitting an enemy with the very end of Swing's range will do extra damage.
    Wind Up
Holding SNEAK for 3 seconds will make you Charged, both increasing Swing's damage and making it go fully around you the next time it is used.
    Vehicle Master
Vehicle Masters use a wide range of vehicles that get stronger over time for anything they could need! (Versatility, Vehicles)
    • Difficulty: Easy
    • Damage: Medium
    • Defense: High
    • Range: Medium
    • Speed: Medium
    Notable Vehicle Master Skill Points:
Roughly ordered from top of the Skill Tree to the bottom.

    Roadkill
Running into an enemy while riding a vehicle will do a varying amount of extra damage to them, depending on what vehicle you're riding.
    Cannoneer
Casting Swing while riding a vehicle puts you on top of a Cannon that shoots cannonballs at where you're looking when you use your Main Attack.
    Ambulance
Casting Sharpen Shield while riding a vehicle puts you in a Wagon that heals both you and allies close to you. You are unable to use your Main Attack while in the Wagon, but you take 30% less damage from all sources while in it.
    Self Destruct
Dismounting a vehicle will cause it to explode and leave a pile of ash that does damage to any enemies that walk into it.
    Acceleration
Every 3s on your vehicle without dismounting or switching gives you +1 Accelerated, boosting its attributes. (Max 5, resets on dismount)
    Explosive Swap
Self Destruct activates when swapping vehicles.
    Second Seat
Expands your vehicles to allow 1 ally to ride with you, adding extra offensive elements for vehicles that attack.
    Burnout
Self Destruct's explosion and ash pile damage now increases depending on your Accelerated when activating it.
More Accelerated - Increases your maximum Accelerated by +5.
Corkian Cruiser - Casting Sharpen Sword while on your Shield or any other vehicle puts you in a Corkian Mech Suit that throws a punch when you use your Main Attack.

Pre-Accelerated - When swapping vehicles, keep 20% of your current Accelerated.
Third Seat - Increases the amount of extra seats you get from Second Seat by +1.
Clash - Hitting an enemy while in your Corkian Cruiser at the same time as it hitting you will activate the effects of Parry.
Airship - Casting Shield Surf while on your Shield or any other vehicle puts you in an Airship that lets you freely fly around at the cost of not being able to use your Main Attack.
Faster Acceleration - Decreases time on your vehicle needed to gain Accelerated by -1s.
    TBA - TBA
    [IMG]
    Parrier
Parriers precisely raise their shield when about to be attacked to stagger enemies and set them up for an early grave. (Debuffs, High Risks)
    • Difficulty: Hard
    • Damage: High
    • Defense: Low
    • Range: Medium
    • Speed: High
    Notable Parrier Skill Points:
Roughly ordered from top of the Skill Tree to the bottom.

Immovable Object - Having your Shield up makes you immune to knockback.
Parry - Raising your Shield right before an enemy hits you will Parry their attack, stunning them and making them take more damage from all sources for a few seconds.
Primed Parry - All effects of Parry are amplified if Sharpen Shield is used before it.

cool idea, i feel like sharpening spells could just be combined rather than taking up 2 whole spell slots since it would kinda make rotation just sharpen > melee > sharpen > melee etc instead have them combined and give the class another unique spell? or make them trigger alongside some kinda attack like a sharpening spin or something :D

    Good question!

Yes, they would be combatable since you just have to left click while holding shift when your powder special is charged up in order to activate it.

They don’t take new class suggestions because of the amount of dev time required, balancing, and the CT already have other ideas for classes they want to implement. That isn’t a reason to stop continuing this thread; it’s fun to brainstorm new classes. I just wanted to make you aware as to not disappoint you in the future.

I know, that's actually why I put this in the normal forum instead of the suggestion forum.

Originally there was a paragraph acknowledging that this would never be added, but I removed it because it kinda cluttered the thread a bit.
