Render Steve Vs The Corruption

A kinda last minute entry to the Contest Contest

 

Can anyone give their opinion on this?

 

This is pretty good! It's not as "advanced" as other renders I've seen, but still pretty damn sweet.

 

That's because it was made in this program called Mine-imator.

 

Any more opinions?

 

The purple glow emitted by the portal on the sides of the grass does not seem realistic. In fact, the purple glow should be lighter or not even be there because the portal is inside the hill, shielded by dirt around it.

 

Unfortunately, the rules say that I can't edit the render now.
There is another light from the moon.

 

The posing / Positioning is bad . It will be more interesting if steve and all the mob wasnt centered , and the posing ... And now the background , It very repetitive with all the grass and the portal is just a typical portal that just seem really out of place . Lighting on the grass were dark , it look like they are all having a hugging party instead of fighting .

Had to make this all in the course of about an hour.

 

Well even if it doesnt win, at least you have a base to work on, this stuff is hard to get into and get good at. Hats off to you for at least making the effort.

Just one piece of advice for you, try cleaning up the scene and making it more clear what your focus is.
You have the makings of a good render, the joints are pretty well positioned along with the swords, however it's still a bit hard to tell what's going on.
Try to have a more clear subject where you can clearly see each element of your scene.
