As someone who has gotten bored of Hypixel Skyblock, I want to start Wynncraft but there are a few things I want to ask.

What is the most preferred version for wynncraft.

Are there any QOL mods I should be using (excluding optifine and patcher)?

    Thanks!

Pretty much any version works, but most people play either 1.12.2 or 1.19+. One of the main reasons for this is that a mod named wynntils/Artemis is available in those versions (wynntils is 1.12.2, but will not be Updated anymore, Artemis is the follow-up version for 1.19). You can get Artemis if you want since it has quite a few useful features like an ingame map, waypoints you can place everywhere you want to go for easier navigating, health and mana bars instead of hearts, copying items and their stats in chat for other wynntils users and much more. You don’t need it though since you can always see your location on the map on the website or you could just explore casually, but considering you come from hsb I know you will immediately install it ;) (I came from there too)

    Hey there, welcome to Wynncraft!

For starters, any version above 1.9 is fine. Most people would recommend either 1.12.2 or 1.19.x. Take your pick, whichever one fits best for you.
Albeit, Wynncraft some extra visual and sound effects that can only be experienced via 1.17+, but those are really minor and mostly just consist or stuff like rank ribbons beside players' names in chat and also some 1.17+ exclusive Minecraft sounds.

As for mods, anything performance-related similar to optifine is completely fine. In terms of Wynncraft-specific mods however, there are no official ones, the server is intended to be played modless.

If you want my advice? I would highly recommend playing on Vanilla Minecraft first (Without Wynncraft-specific mods, to be exact). Gets the true Wynncraft experience that way. I would suggest experiencing the game in its intended form, at least for the first playthrough and/ or first few weeks. After that you can try the community-made mods out, see if you like them or not.

    Have fun!

Also an unrelated note here but a recent update kinda of revamped the quest book, I'm not sure how Wynntils'/ Artemis' version of their custom GUI quest book is going to respond to this. I would say just use the modless one until further notice, if you really want to go for Wynncraft QoL mods.

Old wynntils versions are bugged with the new content book, they only open it and instead of analyzing and closing it it stays open and you get an error message in chat, making it really annoying to do quests since it opens everytime you make progress + the lootrun timer / challenge number doesn’t show up, on the latest Artemis version it works as normal though
