Any Class Some Underrated Items And Builds That Use Them

Hey guys, here are some items that I think are underrated with examples of builds that could be used with them.

Builds might not be the best, as most of them are theoretical, they're just an example of how they could be used. I tried to make them good though.

Magnus/Plague with Thunder Powders
Chain lightning is OP on these bows due to their high base damage, in addition to applying life steal, mana steal, and poison. Since it triggers exploding as well you can wipe out entire armies of mobs with one lightning. The downside is that it is weak against bosses unless they have a lot of minions you can explode.

Plague is better than Magnus but Magnus was made for this and it's an alternative if you don't wanna use Plague.

Thrundacrack but with Water Powders
Thrundacrack's damage is already insane, so if you add curse, you get a huge boost to your already massive damage. It works better as a powder special than chain lightning, and due to the water damage, you can also hurt mobs with thunder resist like Orange Wybel.

Overgrown / Crwth
They are earth weapons that deal a lot of spell damage.

Morrowind
I don't know why everyone thinks this wand sucks, it’s got slightly above average damage and provides some other useful stats and has no downsides. It’s best used in high health tank builds where the agility further increases your already high survivability while the okay damage means you can still kill bosses.

Also the reflection and agility makes it strong in PvP as well.

Sano’s Care
Sure, it’s got no health but it’s easy to counter and it provides many other useful stats such as mana and health regen. It’s great for countering the negative regens of other items.

Clockwork
It provides a large amount of health, more than any other Bracelet. This is great for giving survivability to low health builds and makes tanky builds even tankier.

I use this way too much.

Taurus
No, I’m not talking about using this in Cancer builds or Rainmaker builds. This is great when used in Quake builds, because Quake multiplies raw melee. Just find the highest base damage weapon for your class, put 2 T6 earth on it, and have fun with your 20k+ quakes (or even higher if you’re archer with Stinger).

WARNING: Last I checked, weapons with no neutral will not deal raw melee damage, this includes in Quake

Manna
Why have spell spam when you can have spell spam and defensive stats at the same time?

Manablast
Tons of raw spell and tons of mana regen means you can be more flexible with your build when using this. In fact, it has enough raw spell to deal more neutral damage than Bonder. It can solo Qira, even without a raw spell build.

This is actually pretty good for fire melee. Unfortunately it comes with negative water defense which isn’t easily countered, but it is still decent despite that.

Infidel: Great for chain lightning and raw spell

Coral ring: gives health and mana, no major downsides. You should use this instead of Myrrh/other 1mr rings if you can.

Siliquartz Blend: raw spell without skill point requirements or negative defenses.

Steel Wool: Cinderchain if you’re poor or don’t want the -tier

Chef Hamsey’s Apron: literally free mana regen

Sky Chef’s Apron: good if you don’t wanna have to put in skill points for Far Cosmos or Libra but still need skill points.

The Modulator: skill points, low reqs, no downsides, fixed stats.

Eidolon: air melee and tons of speed.

Warp: insane damage and walk speed but difficult to use.

Warchief: tons of damage and health.

Wick: Has nice WS and also there’s no good thunder spears

The Ephemeral: One of the few mana regen pants

Seipodon: Another mana regen pants

I might add more later idk.

What is so wrong with Grillface anyway? I'm the guy who made the playstyle and decided on a good chunk of it's IDs for Grillface (Selvut did the balancing and the other IDs). Since then, I've noticed very mixed reactions towards the item, and I would like to know why people dislike it. I know one of the reasons is the -water defense, but honestly it's really not that bad anymore. Is it because of Heroism? I would like some elaboration on why Grillface is unpopular other than "Grillface sucks".

Grillface isn't really a melee-centered helmet per se, it's more of a hybrid? The fire/air damage allows for Synergy for basically any weapon with Fire and/or Air damage, melee or spell.

Centipede is much superior in melee, but... that's about it. Grillface is more versatile in other playstyles. (And has much less restrictive SP reqs.)

Another thing to consider is the massive difference in defense between Centipede and Grillface. Centipede has less negative elemental defense but Grillface has higher positives and the difference in HP is like night and day.

and even considering how much more hp and positive def grillface has over centi, no one will ever use it over centi in a melee build

most of these items you made builds around are actually used quite often,
people just dont usually post their builds on the forums a lot



and the problem with grillface is: its outclassed
if you want a low req fire defense item you use Blushwind or Phoenix Prince's Crown
if you want a melee fire helmet (or any melee helmet) use Centipede
if you want a Fire/Air helmet use Heroism

the -water def doesnt really make it very useful to builds either

but raw spell does apply on spells (with weapons that dont have neutral damage)

Stinger can also be used for that because of the massive life steal, base damage and poison. Health regen and mana steal can be a problem for it though.

Also the four unique earth/water armors can be pretty powerful, alone or together. They are usually ignored and are underrated just because they are uniques, but they can provide pretty good health, defense, skill points, and damage for an earth/water build. They also have nearly no drawbacks.

 

you should put the hive weapons
the reason they're underrated is cause people generally choose the armor over hive weapons, making a lot of people see them as a waste.
in reality, they have some of the best non-mythic damage, as well as free mr and ms.

 

gambler shouldnt be considered an item for builds you'd recommend as it's way too hard to get a sufficient one after the recent nerf
also uhh if you dont mind i could use with some numbers on average chain lightnings with super slow weps due to just sheer interest

underrated lmao
